Made some new sprites for a lot of the resources on the map! They are still not final but it's better than using random pictures out of google search 😅 #gamedev #indiegame #turnbased

Improved the hp bar a bit. Still doesn't look great but its better. It also changes colors from green to red. No more numbers displayed on the map - its all in the menu now. #gamedev #indiegame #turnbased

Experimenting with where to display passive unit skills. I put them on the right side of the menu as smaller buttons for now but they don't have icons yet. That is probably where the current buffs/debuffs will also go to. #gamedev #indiegame #turnbased

Right now there is no limit to how many of a building you can have. So for example you can only build science buildings and get a ton of science. I wonder if this is really more fun than having 1 of each though 🤔 #gamedev #indiegame #turnbased

Right now capturing cities happens instantly but there are a few turns of revolt where you can't use the new city. I plan to add walls and maybe more options on what to do with conquered cities. #gamedev #indiegame #turnbased

You can now select terrain if you hold down ctrl. I will try to put a more natural hotkey for it in the future. I wonder how much information should this give you, right now it's very limited 🤔

Currently, you don't make combat units out of your cities, but build them from separate buildings and they each have their own build queue. I do like this system so far but I will experiment more with how quickly they are trained and with their cost #gamedev #indiegame #turnbased

The map generation is pretty basic right now but here is the Lakes script. It has a few large water masses and a lot of small lakes (shocking). I will try to add a few more terrain types and maybe snow at the top and bottom of the map! #gamedev #indiegame #turnbased

Since you can only have 1 building on a tile I added a feature that allows you to sell buildings. Well, right now you don't get any money back but you will in the future 😅 #gamedev #indiegame #turnbased

I put in a temporary indicator for how far your production is finished and a way to hurry production. It only gives you as much as you need to still finish the building in one turn! There is no overflow at the moment so this is useful. #gamedev #indiegame #turnbased

Thinking of a way to handle settling new cities is one of the big issues for 4x games. I don't want to limit players from expanding too much but I also don't want everyone to plant as many cities as possible so for now they have scaling food costs. #gamedev #indiegame #turnbased

We decided to make every building get placed on the map, no longer can you stack 100 buildings in your city 😆 And some of them, like the barracks, can produce units! #gamedev #indiegame #turnbased

Here's the city screen and a system to assign citizen to tiles similar to civ. I've always liked the civ system, it's simple but offers a lot of freedom to players so I will use it for now unless I get a better idea. #gamedev #indiegame #turnbased

The settler type unit can also build roads! I want to simplify the game a bit so there won't be a separate worker unit. Part of me likes the worker spam in civ 3 but it gets tedious after a while. #gamedev #indiegame #turnbased
