@nbcnews.com this is 100% wrong.

Chief Justice apologizes for “administrative error” that led Supreme Court to make correct decision.* SATIRE

So far I’ve seen one and only one news headline that bothered to mention her name. Otherwise it’s ‘wife of Weezer bassist.’

Just a well-oiled machine down there at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. www.cbsnews.com/news/h-r-mcm...

‘Paxton’s record as a what I will call, for lack of a better term, “lawyer” is distinctly mixed.’ washingtonmonthly.com/2021/06/30/w...

On the WASHINGTON MONTHLY Anne Kim and I talk to Timothy Noah about his "citizen's guide" to fighting back against the Trump adminisration.

Justice Alito — the justice w/ most $ in the stock market & who has another $2.5+ million in mutual funds — may have lost ~$500,000 since the inauguration. Still crunching the numbers; should have tmrw. Wouldn't be disqualifying should a tariffs arrive at #SCOTUS but interesting nonetheless.

“[T]he loophole only emerges if you’re really strictly limiting yourself to the text,” Kalt told The Hill. “If you’re saying, well, what’s the point of the 22nd Amendment? What is it trying to accomplish? What it’s trying to accomplish is, if you have two terms, then you leave and that’s it.”

Trump’s tariffs on shipments from moon “not a mistake,” Navarro says. “The US green cheese sector has been decimated by lunar imports — and beam makers will thank us too.” #tariffs

All I’m asking is that any lawyer who is in a position of power at a law firm displays the same modicum of courage as the junior associates at the same firms.

The answer to this and a lot of other supposed conundrums under the Constitution is the one that George Orwell gave in 1936: “I have a sort of belly-to-earth attitude and always feel uneasy when I get away from the ordinary world where grass is green, stones hard, etc.”

This is by far the best explanation of the role of tariffs in U.S. history that I've seen anywhere, and why Trump's latest move is the disastrous equivalent of another invasion of Iraq. Kudos to @jfallows.bsky.social. @garrettepps.bsky.social fallows.substack.com/p/launching-...

If I didn’t know better, I’d imagine that maybe huge soulless relentlessly profit-oriented, exploitative money machines were less than ideal methods for delivering legal services to a society.

I am so relieved

Bursch rather condescending to J. Harvie Wilkinson, prominent conservative judge who was considered for Chief Justice by GWB, as unable to construe a statute. #Medina #PlannedParenthood

I may weep. I’m not speaking figuratively. I mean I may %#?ing shed tears. www.nbcnews.com/politics/ele...

what booker is doing right now is an example of what i mean when i say things like “we need more ambition right now.” there is room in american politics right now for people with ambition to take big stands and reap the rewards. he’s doing it!

I received a call from an individual who said he was an office of US Customs and Border Protection. I said, "I doubt it," but said that I would write down his name and badge number and call CBP and see whether they have such an employee. While I was searching for a pen, he hung up.

STUNG BY SIGNAL BACKLASH, HEGSETH TIGHTENS OPSEC: Embattled Defense Secretary Says, “We Will Return to Instagram for Future War Planning”

In light of Trump's appointment of Vance as Historian General, it's worth reviving the "1776 Project" he was preparing to force on the country's schools at the end of his first term. washingtonmonthly.com/2021/01/26/t...

Really more like skirmish musing. Or kerfuffle pondering.

“I insist on being shocked. I am never going to become immune. I think that’s a kind of failure to see so much of it that you die inside. I want to be surprised and shocked every time.” ― Toni Morrison

Much as I hate to say it, Trump in this case is right: it was not a “war plan,“ it was a “conflict roadmap.“ Thank heavens we cleared that up.

#Gleichschaltung was the German Nazi term for "bringing into line" previously independent institutions. Yesterday, the Paul, Weiss law firm; today #Columbia University. @gtconway.bsky.social @garrettepps.bsky.social @fairmediawatch.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/2025/03/21/n...

Can Donald Trump really withhold funding from states if they don’t do what he wants (like apologize for defending civil rights)? Constitutional law prof @garrettepps.bsky.social explains in the latest installment of @washingtonmonthly.com’s series Democracy 101: youtu.be/bK3iUyJGoH0?...

We are growing, unfortunately, all too accustomed to efforts by Trump & Co. to give bizarre new meanings to obscure phrases in the Constitution. Trump's Latest Word Salad Isn't Just Wrong. It's Insane. @garrettepps.bsky.social in @washingtonmonthly.com washingtonmonthly.com/2025/03/19/t...

I know, Mr Chief Justice, it’s infuriating! This big oaf is throwing his weight around — he really acts like someone told him he’s imm—oh, um, forget I spoke. I’ll, um, I’ll show myself out.
