@colinparent.bsky.social’s main solution to close the MTS funding gap is to award a more expensive fare collection contract to Cubic, a company that funds his non-profit (@circulatesd.bsky.social) and has a seat on their Board. @voiceofsandiego.org should note this at the end for transparency.

Good opinion piece, but pinning reduced fare revenue on Pronto vendor is misguided. Revenue reduction has more to do with reduced enforcement and fare capping. You will never guess which fare technology vendor donated money to Colin's company. (Hint: The one that cost $16 million more)

Little known fact: Most bus shelter displays have locks that open with a flat-head screwdriver.

Most residents of marginalized communities don’t want mega projects, they want more frequency bus service with extended service hours. It is transit advocates, politicians, and unions that want the mega projects.

Legality is irrelevant based on recent pardons and pre-pardons by Trump and Biden. Presidential pardon power needs to be reformed or illegal behavior will continue to happen with no consequences.

City shaking down neighborhoods that currently generate parking revenue to cover budget gap, while low-density neighborhoods will get higher portion of their street maintenance paid for by the General Fund. This is the kind of regressive fee that @seanelorivera.bsky.social typically votes against.

What a weekend for Roki to be at Petco Park, with the animal rights protestors and everyone in Downtown wearing cowboy hats. A good contrast between San Diego and the rest of the cities he is considering!

@reckless.bsky.social : Google didn’t install sensors on buses or build transit infrastructure, but it did create the open standard GTFS, which allows transit agencies to provide schedules and vehicle locations to app developers, including Google Maps.

PSA that 🦋 is a tad different than Xitter: Likes do not help drive views, only reposting does. A retweet was treated more of an endorsement (unless quoted to say otherwise). Here, we collectively are the algorithm so you really should repost any content you think is good and want to see more of.

The bikes were funded by 50/50 Raffle proceeds, not purchased by the Padres or SDG&E as the story suggests.

Wow. Kawhi Leonard just injured his shoulder virtually throwing t-shirts from the Intuit Dome scoreboard. Dude can’t catch a break.

Family member received a service denial letter from our HMO. Loaded the letter, appeal instructions, and some bullets of why we needed the service into the free Microsoft Copilot site and asked it to write an appeal letter. Two weeks later we received notice that the decision was overturned.
