Kleistwahr Phase 3 #2. Music for Zeitgeist Fighters. Released on vinyl on Nashazphone Records of Egypt. Two side-long tracks. Soon to be reissued as part of the double CD set with Winter on Fourth Dimension Records. Noisy but melancholic at the same time. Something I seem drawn to.

Kleistwahr Phase 3 #1 In 2016, I decided to begin a final phase of Kleistwahr. An album a year until I die or become incapable of making music. Inspired in part by Bob Dylan's Never Ending Tour. I also realised how I need structure and deadlines to make things happen. Ten years in, still doing it.

Even More Films Frownland (2007). Directed by Ronald Bronstein. US no budget classic starring Dore Mann as Keith, a mass of facial tics and awkwardness. It's an astonishing performance that might be too irritating for some, but they're wrong. US only Criterion channel and Blu-ray. A classic.

Kleistwahr Phase 2, Part 2. In 2014, I finally felt confident that I had a strong album to put out. It's an album about alienation and suicide. A heavy, noisy barrage of overwhelming sound. It's all presented as one track, as I cross-faded all the tracks to link them. I see it as a turning point.

Even More Films Martha, Marcy May, Marlene (2011). Directed by Sean Durkin Superb psychological drama with a great lead performance by Elizabeth Olsen. She plays Martha, who at the start of the film runs away from a commune/cult led by the superbly sinister Jonn Hawkes. A classic of its kind.

Kleistwahr Second Phase I reactivated Kleistwahr in 2009 after a 23 year gap. This was the first low-key release to test the water. Reviews were mixed. The vinyl version had some issues, but I still believed in the tracks and Fourth Dimension reissued it on CD in 2015 how it was supposed to sound.

Kleistwahr began in 1982 as my solo project. I released 2 albums on cassette through my Broken Flag label that year and a third in 1983. This compilation was originally a cassette compilation of those 3 recordings. This CD reissue added the 1986 Kleistwahr recording "Do Not" on Fourth Dimension

Even More Films Trouble Every Day (2001). Directed by Claire Denis Claire Denis was slated by most critics for this erotic horror, but I think it's beautifully made, original and disturbing. Vincent Gallo and Beatrice Dalle are sort of vampires, but it's so much better than that sounds.

Ramleh live. A welcome return to Newcastle. This will be the full 4-piece Ramleh celebrating the release of the new album Hyper Vigilance. Tickets and further details below www.fatsoma.com/e/d509a65g/r... #ramleh #brokenflag

Even More Films Paprika (2006). Directed by Satoshi Kon Mind-blowing animation from Japan. I don't often feature animation because I don't watch much of it. I'd heard this was special though and it certainly is. It's about the theft of a device that allows access to others dreams. Mind-blowing.

Just got the rest of my copies of the Fourth Dimension CD reissue of this Broken Flag album. It includes the additional tracks from the cassette version featuring Grey Wolves and MTT (Teho Teardo). Send me a message if you want one or buy from Discogs if you don't trust me. £9 only plus postage.

Even More Films The Church (1989). Directed by Michele Soavi Italian supernatural classic. Filmed in Hungary. Co-written and co-produced by Dario Argento. Music by Goblin, Philip Glass and Keith Emerson (I didn't let that put me off). Unhinged in the best possible way. Essential nonsense.

Even More Films Let the Corpses Tan (2017). Directed by Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani I loved Cattet and Forzani's 2009 film Amer, so I was glad to finally see this. They have a directing style that will either amaze or irritate you, depending on your taste. I love their strangeness. On MUBI

Even More Films Bull (2021). Directed by Paul Andrew Williams British crime/revenge thriller starring the excellent Neil Maskell and David Hayman. Maskell is Bull and has just reappeared ten years after the crime family he was part of thought they'd killed him. Hayman is the leader. Strong stuff

Even More Films Dawn Breaks Behind the Eyes (2021). Directed by Kevin Kopacka German gothic horror directed by Austrian Kevin Kopacka, who claims it was heavily influenced by Mario Bava and Jean Rollin and it does show. It's difficult to describe without spoiling it. Watch it. Preferably twice.

Even More Films The Sender (1982). Directed by Roger Christian Yes, directed by the director of Battlefield Earth. Come back! This is a great little film. A supernatural thriller from the early 80s. A man is able to send his thoughts out when he is in trouble. Great set pieces and strong end

Even More Films Bedevilled (2010). Directed by Cheol-soo Jang Superior Korean revenge drama/horror. Starts slowly as a drama where a woman goes to a remote island where she grew up and visits a childhood friend. Her friend is treated like dirt. It later turns into a full revenge horror. Excellent

Even More Films Noroi: The Curse (2005). Directed by Koji Shiraishi Korean found footage film. This one goes for the unfinished documentary approach. The film is the documentary. As the reporter investigates, it goes from hearing voices to demonic possession and beyond. Excellent. On Arrow.

Even More Films Never Rarely Sometimes Always (2020). Directed by Eliza Hittman US drama about a 17 year-old girl from Pennsylvania who gets pregnant and doesn't want her family to know. Her cousin goes with her to New York and we follow their experiences. Great performances. Quietly devastating

Even More Films Cold Light of Day (1989). Directed by Fhiona Louise When I bought the Jörg Buttgereit and Coffin Joe box sets from Arrow, they kindly sent me a Blu-ray of this film, based on the Dennis Nilsen story. Not bad if you make allowances for the lack of budget. Grimly realistic in places

Even More Films Hour of the Wolf (1968). Directed by Ingmar Bergman I was looking at an article about Bergman films and this was dismissed as a minor and flawed film. I remembered thinking it was great, so I watched it and loved it again. Agreed its not his absolute best, but still essential.

Even More Films American Animals (2018). Directed by Bart Layton Fascinating and true tale of a group of students who decide to steal valuable books from the museum at the fantastically named Transylvania University in Kentucky in 2004. Great performances from Evan Peters and Barry Keoghan.

Even More Films Communion (1989). Directed by Philippe Mora Alien abduction film from 1989, but it feels more like 1981. It shouldn't work and some of it doesn't, but I can't help loving it, mainly for that astonishing central performance from Christopher Walken. Available free on YouTube.

The reissue of the third vinyl compilation from Broken Flag from 1987 will be shipping from Fourth Dimension from tomorrow. A limited edition CD reissue of this classic compilation album available here: fourthdimensionrecords.bigcartel.com/product/v-a-...

The new RAMLEH album "HYPER VIGILANCE" will be released on Sleeping Giant Glossolalia in 2025. Featuring 8 new tracks, written recorded & produced by Ramleh, mastered by James Plotkin & including original artwork from Jukka Siikala throughout. The audio masters have been approved. More news soon.

Even More Films A Short Film About Love (1988). Directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski 19 year-old Tomek watches much older Magda through a telescope. She lives in a block opposite his. It inevitably makes you think of Rear Window, but this is very different. Beautiful despite the creepy storyline.

Even More Films Presence (2024). Directed by Steven Soderbergh Effective haunted house/family drama film from Soderbergh who has now made several films since he "retired". This is pretty good. Not earth-shattering but entertaining for its brief 82 minutes. In UK cinemas now.

Even More Films Bird (2024). Directed by Andrea Arnold It's great to have Andrea Arnold back. American Honey was so great and Red Road was pretty good too. This one, written and directed by Arnold, was a slight disappointment for me but still better than a lot of stuff that's out there.

Even More Films The Girl with the Needle (2024). Directed by Magnus von Horn I wanted to see this as Frederikke Hoffmeier (Puce Mary) did the soundtrack and she did a great job. Based on actual horrific events. Beautifully shot in black and white. Excellent performances. Highly recommended.

Happy New Year to everyone.

All social media now reinstated. I got an apology too!

My facebook, instagram, messenger and threads accounts have all been disabled. No idea why. I have appealed.
