Something a little different for #PhantomFriday, a nice clear photo of a Phantom cockpit. Forward cockpit of USAF F-4C Phantom II, s/n 63-7567This Phantom last served with the California Air National Guard. It arrived at Travis AFB in June 1987. More in Alt-text.

2 May 1941 | 204 Poles deported from Kalisz by the Gestapo in Lodz - mostly people arrested in retaliation for beating a German gendarme and members of underground organizations - arrived at #Auschwitz. No. 15261 was given to Mieczysław Kościelniak, a painter and graphic artist.

30 April 1945 | Soviet soldiers liberated Ravensbrück concentration camp with around 2,000 sick prisoners. Around 120,000 women and girls, as well as 20,000 men, were registered at Ravensbrück as prisoners between 1939 and 1945. Up to 30,000 perished. encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/a...

29 April 1935 | A Dutch Jew, Jacques Zeldenrust, was born in Rijswijk. He arrived at #Auschwitz on 5 March 1944 in a transport of 732 Jews deported from Westerbork. He was among 477 people murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.

A Sturmgeshütz III in Tunisia in 1943. It is loaded up with infantry and is probably involved in an infantry support role, rather than an anti-tank role. Note the tree branches added for some semblance of camouflage (or at least to break up the outline of the vehicle). More in ALT-text. #TankTuesday
