I’m at a superb conference on quantum diamonds in Hungary. Each speaker has 75 minutes but they get lots of questions and discussion throughout so it’s nothing like a lecture conferences.weizmann.ac.il/QDiamond25/

Our new paper is out: “On the Road with a Diamond Magnetometer”… I drove the van while Stuart Graham measured the magnetic field using a diamond! This could be useful for navigation using a magnetic map. The paper is free to download for 50 days authors.elsevier.com/c/1kTj53IYYk...

The best Lego set ever: the solar system. My youngest built it but it would look good at a university open day for an Astro degree

Rainbows are way more fascinating than you think www.youtube.com/watch?v=24Gf...

Great snowboarding the last week

I’m in Okinawa, Japan, for the exciting Schrödinger Cat workshop organised by Jason Twamley at OIST. We had a nice swim in the sea too groups.oist.jp/qmech/program

A Chladni plate is better with Lego continuing my quest to make all experiments better with Lego

We got the first snow of the year today which reminded me to post these group photos taken a few weeks back

We had a great day today at the UK Quantum Tech Showcase in London demonstrating our diamond magnetometer 💎

We saw the northern lights in Watford tonight

Join us! There is a fully-funded PhD studentship in my group working on our levitated microdiamond experiment towards (eventually) a test of the quantum nature of gravity. I will also soon be advertising a 3-year postdoc job on this project. warwick.ac.uk/gavinmorley/...

It was great to have Jason Smith visiting last week to talk about our work towards a diamond quantum computer as part of the UK Quantum Technology Hubs NQIT and QCS, via UKRI and EPSRC 🧪💡 #quantum

New paper: we measure the longest electron spin coherence and relaxation times for NV centres in nanodiamond. Ollie Williams’ group milled 12C diamond from Element Six…Congrats to James March on his first paper! doi.org/10.1103/Phys...

Hello Bluesky! My research group builds #quantum technology with nitrogen-vacancy centres in diamond, towards useful quantum computing, communication and sensing. We also magnetically levitate microdiamonds towards a test of the quantum nature of gravity
