Fantastic thread.

This by @sivav.bsky.social in The New Republic about Jon Haidt's work on the dangers of cell phones and social media--and how that work gets way out in front of the evidence--is absolutely worth reading. newrepublic.com/article/1903...

It is painfully obvious that autism screening questions are written by non-autistic people…

Steak pie and good friends - best way to spend new year’s day.

Interviewer: Can you explain this gap in your resume? Autistic person: I’m autistic ⬇️ We are the least likely of ALL disabled groups to be employed (3 in 10 autistic people compared to 5 in 10 disabled people & 8 in 10 non-disabled people), due to - stigma - discrimination - lack of support

Are our cats alone in their love of tinsel, or is this a common trait? They normally avoid being this close to each other!

I took @alomshaha.bsky.social up on this offer, and he swiftly sent me a code - but then I realised it was on sale for 99p so bought it instead - I highly recommend you do one or the other - it looks great.

Authors receive a payment every time you borrow a book, audiobook or ebook from libraries in 35 countries. Those countries include the UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany to name but a few. Borrowing a book helps the author’s pocket as well as yours.

Yesterday a story about 1k possible job losses in the automotive sector was top of the morning news. 10k possible job losses in HE was buried in the sector trade paper's coverage of redundancies at Sussex. There is a setting on the Bluesky and Skeets apps that means you can’t post a picture without including ALT text. It’s a great reminder and everyone should switch it on.

Welcome to another Sowing a Seed Sunday. This weeks comes from So You Want To Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo “ How do our social justice efforts so often fail to help the most vulnerable in our populations?” #SowingASeedSunday

Neurodiversity affirming language is SO important - I read so many referral forms which describe traits with an unintentionally problematic lens. LANGUAGE IS EVERYTHING!

Once you get used to it, alt text is a lovely part of posting images. It's great to know that more people can enjoy them & it's also a chance to think about what's special about the image you've chosen. Describing what you love about that sunset, that fascinating building, that particular stone 😍

To all fellow #brummies - this video is amazing!! Perfect Sunday morning viewing.

Somehow this doesn’t come as a great surprise (with no offence at all to the 10 percent happier podcast) and has very much marked me as a nerd at home. But I do love to be able to listen whilst I walk and still be able capture those interesting snippets I would forget otherwise #adhd
