Just re-reading "Earth Abides", kind of my mood with traitors January coming around. I think we need a good apocalypse to clear out the stupidity.

When I was 14 or 15 I read "The Borrowers" and the rest of the series. I am to this day, at 64, fascinated by the idea. At 15 I built bridges and other infrastructure sized for borrowers, just in case.

Wow, 60 mph winds overnight. Some downed branches but roofs are all ok.

Coconuts are finally flowering. Dwarf Thai variety, 5 years in but the ground hope to have coconuts next year.

I live on the south coast of Guatemala, in an area called the Hawaiian biosphere, due to climate similarities with Hawaii. Trees on my farm: bananas, mango, more bananas.

I first came to Guatemala in 1984, Peace Corps. I've been living and travelling here since. 40+ years as a resident. Last 5 years exclusively in Guatemala.
