It'll be a bit quiet from me whilst on maternity leave. Merry Christmas to all, and a peaceful New year <3

What's the fastest you've ever turned around a (major) paper revision? And what's your strategy- letter first, then edits? Something else?

⭐TWO DAYS LEFT TO SUBMIT! So many great abstracts submitted already, make sure you don't miss the chance to be part of the discussion on Transparency, Openness and Rigour with us in January! Deadline is 5PM tomorrow- 6th December! ⭐

Sharing some love from our ETHOS research centre's winterval celebrations last night. Community is the *best* thing about academia, working alongside smart, passionate people at all stages of their career. I feel very lucky! @drdanielfisher.bsky.social

And ashamedly, City remains in the quarter of UK unis *not* committed to disinvestment peopleandplanet.org/fossil-free/...

I was promoted to Reader! A rather odd academic job title that is dying out... but recognises the strength of my research standing. Hurrah!

This reflects the challenges we see on the ground for women staff, as well as the broader political and cultural backslide on gender equity

Exciting news, organizational researchers! @orgstudies.bsky.social is now on Bluesky! And so are our co-editors-in-chief: @tzilber.bsky.social and @paoloquattrone.bsky.social

Today I attended a lecture online and listened, thought, and thought some more. Just for intellectual growth. Kind of what I thought academia would be like!

#AI #chatbots conducting #interviews is wrong on so many levels: - Ethically (duty of care to our participants; huge questions about privacy & protection of data) - Methodologically (distance between us & data means we risk losing the depth & rigour that qualitative methods provide) And more...

Our 'ETHOS: The Centre for Responsible Enterprise' seminar theme on 03/12/24 is: ‘Hope in The Dark: Building community & solutions in crisis contexts’. Our two papers are: 1/ Khodr Badih- ‘From Void to Vital: How Informality Drives Industry Growth in the Absence of Formal Institutions’ and...

Re-posting to share with new followers the kind of research I've been working on in recent years: #Misogyny in #Organizations. Inspired by the fabulous philosophical work of @katemanne.bsky.social & applied to the world of work. Article open acccess here: journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10....

This is really helpful. It's tough rebuilding networks & news sources on a new platform. Thank you to everyone curating starter packs & lists!

Created a list with scholars in the business and society field: bsky.app/profile/did:...

I'm going on maternity leave in ~3 weeks for 2nd baby. Trying to battle the rising panic of taking months out of work after a not very productive (academically speaking) year. My head knows that it will be fine, my anxiety is not listening! Anyone else been there? @academic-chatter.bsky.social

I'm reminded of a seminar with Doug Holt, a marketing prof, who'd worked on segmentations of US citizens & what they needed to act on climate. Some people *wanted* to be told how to live, they wanted direction. Others needed incentives. Others needed different frames again.

I'm trying to write a paper for one of the *high-ranking* management journals, & realised that the formulaic way we've been told to write mean that AI could have written a fair chunk of it. Creativity will be necessary to stand out from soulless mediocrity. Thought of you @amandagoodall.bsky.social

Back on Bluesky to get a feel for it again- X is a cesspit of bots and crowing, validated bigots celebrating Trump's win. It is not a good space for anything anymore.

Another reason why this matters for humanity, not just the USA. #USelection2024

🌍New #OA commentary in Geo🌍 'Overpopulation discourse: A feminist and necropolitical approach from the Global South' by Ana De Luca Zuria This commentary critiques the narrative that blames overpopulation for environmental issues doi.org/10.1002/geo2... #geo #geosky

Posting for Emily Block, who is not yet on BSky: "Tired of old fasioned and gendered career advice in academia? So were we....so 21 women came together to investigate the careers of elite scholars. There are many paths to success & lots of advice you can ignore!" journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...
