The science is clear: trans women do not have an inert advantage over cis women. The law is clear: in Minnesota, discrimination is illegal. Check out our legal director, Jess Braverman, taking a deep dive on the trans sports ban bill in the MN House today on Fox 9: www.fox9.com/video/1602067

A transgender sports ban, HF 12, is moving to the floor of the Minnesota House on Monday, March 3rd. At a time when LGBTQ+ communities are being targeted for exclusion at a federal and state level, it is important that we as Minnesotans stand up for our shared values of welcome and inclusion.

"This fight was never really about sports... It’s about controlling who gets to exist openly & freely in our society." Our Executive Director, Megan Peterson, on the truth behind attacks on trans athletes.👇

Take action! This dangerous bill would force the Department of Corrections to violate the Minnesota Human Rights Act by denying trans inmates housing that aligns with their gender identity. More👇 🧵

Sports should be about teamwork, growth, and belonging—not discrimination. HF 12 is a cruel attempt to exclude trans youth from the teams and communities that help them thrive. Speak out now—urge #MNleg to vote NO!👇

ICYMI: Last week, Minnesota joined a lawsuit to block the Trump administration’s cruel attempt to restrict gender-affirming care for trans and nonbinary youth. This care is life-saving—and Minnesota won’t back down. www.mprnews.org/story/2025/0...

Trump’s executive order attempting to ban transgender athletes from sports is an illegal and shameful attack designed to advance a campaign building hate and fear for political gain. We want to be clear about what this order means, and what it doesn’t: 🧵 www.genderjustice.us/resource/tra...

Today Donald Trump will sign an executive order banning trans kids from sports. This is your reminder that trans athletes are not, and never have been, a “problem”. Inclusion is not threat.

Yesterday, as the White House launched a sweeping and cruel federal attack on trans health care, our client stood before a Bismarck courtroom and described how gender-affirming care saved her life. Trans youth deserve to be heard, supported, and protected. We won’t stop fighting.

We're in Bismarck all week! “This case is not as complicated as it may seem,” says Gender Justice attorney Brittany Stewart. “All North Dakotans have a right to personal autonomy to make decisions about the health care they need or don’t need to live happy, healthy lives as their authentic selves.”

“No matter what happens under federal law or under our national laws, the laws in Minnesota will continue to protect transgender kids in particular,” said Christy Hall, senior staff attorney for Gender Justice in this conversation with @sahanjournal.bsky.social

🚨 A bill banning trans people from competing in sports has already passed the US House. We're counting on our senators to STOP it in the Senate. Add your name to tell them to vote NO on SB9 and resist this effort to advance misogyny and galvanize hate.

“It’s one of the tools of fascism to get people to comply in advance. You get people to turn on each other,” says @leighfinke.bsky.social, the author of Minnesota's 2023 Trans Refuge Act. "Don't pre-comply with the erasure of trans people."

Gender Justice legal director Jess Braverman on what we know right now about Trump's executive orders on gender. It's important to know that his orders on gender markers apply to *federal* documents. You can still change your gender markers on state documents (like drivers licenses.)

“For Trump, the most potent tools he has are fear and chaos,” says Jess Braverman, the legal director here at Gender Justice. “Any executive order that he passes will be challenged.” That includes any order to override Minnesota’s protections for transgender people.

In a huge victory for youth receiving gender-affirming care in North Dakota, a judge has denied the state’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit challenging its ban. We are extremely pleased that our case will go to trial and these families will get their day in court. (1/2)

“This is the fight of our time. With Trump back in office and attacks on freedom and bodily autonomy escalating, it’s up to Minnesota to push back,” said Gender Justice's Megan Peterson. “The people of this state overwhelmingly support equality for all—it’s time to let them decide.”

Every time you expend energy to fight a bill targeting transgender people, each time a legislator proposes new restrictions on abortion access, remind yourself: an inclusive state Equal Rights Amendment would circumvent all of it. Let Minnesotans have a voice. Let us vote. See you soon!

“One of the big things we can do is be involved in local-level politics, because local-level politics filter up," says Dr. Crystal Beal, founder of the telemedicine practice QueerDoc, addressing the looming anxiety over the incoming administration

How the incoming administration will try to siphon even more public funding to "crisis pregnancy centers" (unregulated religious nonprofits run by antiabortion advocates) — excellent breakdown by Reproductive Health & Freedom Watch's Jenifer McKenna in @msmagazine.com:

Happy New Year! It's the first Monday of 2025, and all health plans in Minnesota are now required to offer coverage for abortion and gender affirming care. We can do more to ensure equal rights. And we will. Join us at the Minnesota State Capitol on the first day of the 2025 legislative session!
