A random thought the other day. A solution to the Drake equation I have rarely heard suggested: Like flight, evolution abhors intelligence. It's very cool, but incredibly resource intensive and beyond a certain level it's not as useful for survival.

You know, we already have a blueprint for how to create true artificial intelligence and it looks nothing like AGI. Actually imagine if you could create a human intelligence and put it in a box with only training data for company. It wouldn't actually behave intelligently.

Had a monkey's paw dream last night. A job paying a healthy 6 figures with lots of perks. I was struggling to even understand the role, it was so vague and my coworkers were nearly teens. Turns out the job was trivially easy but what they really wanted was a forever GM for an in-office game. (1/2)

World building is like structural beams and concrete. It should be there and be robustly designed, but it should never be visible in the final product (except for maybe a glimpse of artfully exposed brickwork.)

Americans. Entirely hypothetically, what would you do if Trump ordered the military to kill all democratic senators and Congresspeople? I mean he legally can now thanks to the Supreme Court. The only hurdle would be if the individual military officers refused the orders. Just curious, no reason.

How do we as citizens (or a hypothetical police officer) know what the law is without consulting a lawyer? I see a lot of American videos focused around "knowing your rights" with regards to what officers can and can't do, but is there a single centralised place where this can be checked by people?
