Prime Minister Mark Carney has said Canada will develop both clean and conventional energy. Given a choice between the two, 67% of Canadians say they would prioritize clean over conventional. New poll by Abacus Data on behalf of Clean Energy Canada. bit.ly/45vXz0x

While the timing of the market cool-down is causing pain for some owners and investors, the more rational market is healthier overall for Canadians. www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti...

💼 Youth unemployment isn’t just a summer problem. As Mark Beckles and Ilona Dougherty highlight, government and private sector must create opportunities that respond to the realities of this cohort and recognize what is at stake in the long term. policyoptions.irpp.org?p=114537

Most Canadians are concerned about climate change. So what action will YOU take to help protect our planet for younger and future generations? bit.ly/448qa9I

"What we need is for the federal government to not just talk about how great young people are but we actually need them to be investing consistently in youth-focused programs." Ilona Dougherty, managing director Youth & Innovation Project at the University of Waterloo. www.cbc.ca/listen/live-...

You help people Get Well long before they reach a clinic. But B.C. budgets still put social supports second. The Federation supports @gensqueeze.bsky.social‬'s call to rebalance spending and recognize prevention as real health care. 🔗 www.gensqueeze.ca/get_well_can... #GetWellCanada

Mortgage-free home ownership among young Canadians is on the rise. Here's why we think it's a worrisome sign for housing affordability in Canada. 🧵(1/15)...

Canada's housing crisis demands not just more homes, but homes that are affordable, low-carbon, and climate-resilient. The Report Card on More and Better Housing evaluates how governments across Canada are responding to this challenge. moreandbetterhousing.ca/2025/05/26/r...

Did you know the Age Tax Credit costs $5 billion/year? That's more than the new annual spending planned for $10-a-day child care. It shelters $8,000 of income from taxation for people over 64 and is only phased out entirely for those with incomes of $92,000+. www.gensqueeze.ca/protect_oas_...

Old Age Security is 75 years out of date. Its 1950s design is dragging down today’s budget, and letting down seniors and young people alike. 75% of Canadians agree with our plan to modernize benefits to better support those in need. Do you agree? youtu.be/yW83hQe_EXQ

"If we believe Canada should reward effort over inheritance, then we must face a hard truth: our housing system is failing the meritocracy test." -Dr. Paul Kershsaw, founder and director of Generation Squeeze in @theglobeandmail.com www.theglobeandmail.com/investing/pe...

This is the view of the "squeeze" on Millennials and Gen Z as seen in the UK. The SAME trends hold true here in Canada. For example: Poverty rates for seniors are half what they are for young people, yet the gap in total spending on children and retirees has widened!!!

The Liberals ran on making housing affordable, and sooner rather than later. If prices don’t start to come down...people are going to be angry...If prices do come down broadly, Carney will also face anger, but from owners looking to sell. It’s an impossible position." thewalrus.ca/mark-carney-...

In the 1970s, provincial governments consistently spent more on social services and education than they did on medical care. Now, the opposite is true, but doctors can't prescribe poverty reduction, child care or access to safe and affordable housing. We need a rebalancing! www.getwellcanada.ca

We have more doctors per capita than ever before but the science is clear: Health doesn’t begin with medical care. To "get well" we need safe and affordable homes, living wages, quality child care and a healthy planet. Support Get Well Canada: www.gensqueeze.ca/invest_in_we...

Canada could totally eliminate seniors' poverty and still have money left over to help younger Canadians with affordability. Older Canadians agree: Old Age Security benefits need to be modernized to better target those most in need.

Old Age Security was designed in 1952, and hasn’t been updated since. Its outdated approach gives $18,000 a year in taxpayer funded cash benefits to retired couples with $180,000 in income. action.gensqueeze.ca/fix_oas

"The shift has been especially dramatic among those under 35, who are now paying just under $59 of every $100 on their credit card balance....The unemployment rate among 15- to 24-year-olds was around 14% in April" www.theglobeandmail.com/investing/pe...

Webinar June 18th hosted by our friends at ReClimate. Climate change is the largest debt to be passed from one generation to the next in our history. Younger and future generations are poised to inherit the messes we’ve made, but failed to clean up. Canada can do better.

It's past time to compensate Millennials and Gen Z for the financial hits they are taking to prop up a housing system that has created enormous wealth for (primarily older) homeowners. What does compensation look like? We're glad you asked: action.gensqueeze.ca/compensate_y...

Should home prices rise, stall or fall? Until we answer it, we can’t fix what’s broken in Canada’s housing system. But politicians will dodge it so long as they fear backlash from mostly older homeowners whose wealth is tied to high prices. www.gensqueeze.ca/globe_mail_a...

As Members of Parliament return to the House of Commons this week, we think the issue of generational fairness must be at the forefront of our efforts to protect, build, and unite Canada. We offer some practical solutions to the challenge: www.gensqueeze.ca/asks_of_new_...

Canada’s Old Age Security (OAS) program desperately needs an overhaul. The way we determine eligibility for retiree cash benefits is out of step with something most Canadians value: that when we lend a helping hand, we should prioritize those in need. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pr8K...

This is a shocking betrayal of trust! Don't let the Canada Pension Plan abandon it's net-zero commitment! Current, younger and future generations are counting on us to do more, not less to protect our planet and our financial futures. Take action via @shiftaction.bsky.social

"Ontario’s 2025 budget projects a $14.6 billion deficit. This shortfall is strikingly close to the $14.9 billion increase in medical spending on residents over age 64 since Premier Doug Ford took office in 2018." -Paul Kershaw via @thehubcanada.bsky.social
