SCOOP: A US Treasury threat intelligence analysis has designated DOGE staff an ā€˜insider threat'. An internal email reviewed by WIRED calls DOGE staff's access to federal payments systems ā€œthe single biggest insider threat risk the Bureau of the Fiscal Service has ever faced.ā€

Imagine if the entire DC media was reporting on Musk and Trump with the *ferocity* and *velocity* of WIRED these past three weeks. IMAGINE what we would know now that we donā€™t.

What happened to CDC's bird flu studies and why did they publish about wildfires instead? Sources tell us Trump officials are now wielding unprecedented control over agency's flagship scientific journal "The MMWR has lost its autonomy" www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-o...

Ok scientists. How do we respond? Scientific strike starting on Monday? Something has to be done to let people know what is going on.

I know we canā€™t run around on fire every time Trump says something but he appears to have just announced the new US policy on Gaza which is to take ownership of it, ethnically cleanse it of the 1.8 million Palestinians there and maintain a long term ownership stake as itā€™s ā€œdeveloped.ā€

The FDA has scrubbed from its website guidance on conducting medical trials with representative numbers of men/women and racial/ethnic minorities. these aren't symbolic issues. Drugs affect men/men, people with different genetic backgrounds differently. talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/medic...

The Trump admin has cancelled the panels that approve NIH grants, & is also banning scientists from communicating with the public, attending conferences, and hiring. NIH is the largest funder of biomedical research in the world. This will severely halt the development of many lifesaving treatments.

There are reports that Trump's immigration raids may target San Antonio. We know from history that mass deportation raids can lead to the arrest, detention, and deportation of even American citizens. First, know your legal rights (in English and Spanish below). 1/

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research. Iā€™m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or ā€œpauseā€ in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.

Merrick Garland failed miserably in delivering justice for Trumpā€™s numerous crimes. The absolute LEAST he can do is release Jack Smithā€™s report so the American people will learn the facts. Publishing the results of special counsel investigations is the norm ā€” burying the truth would be indefensible.

Confirmed reports now of "hundreds" of cars that were abandoned by drivers on Sunset Boulevard amid frantic #PalisadesFire evacuation gridlock earlier. (Folks made it out on foot.) CalFire/LA County bulldozers are in process of clearing path for emergency vehicles. #CAwx #CAfire

Looks like there is only one person interested in suppressing the truth, and itā€™s not the Jan 6 committee

šŸšØšŸšØšŸšØ Last night, Sen. Mike Lee wrote a blueprint for destroying Social Security. Leeā€™s thread was quickly amplified by Elon Musk, who Donald Trump has put in charge of slashing our earned benefits. This is a declaration of war against seniors, people with disabilities, and the American public.

On the shore of Lake Tiktalik in Canadaā€™s Western Arctic, the thawing permafrost had set off two huge landslides into the water. These ā€œthaw slumpsā€ could turn the Indigenous residents of Tuktoyaktuk into Canadaā€™s first climate refugees.

The usual suspects are out there yelling "There are 23 million government workers! Fire most of them!" No awareness that most work for local governments, and most of *them* are schoolteachers. Federal employment hasn't grown since the 1950s

Brush fires in autumn are not uncommon in New York City. What is extraordinary is the number of them this year: in the first two weeks of November, the F.D.N.Y. responded to 271 fires, the most in its history.

Major brush fires currently burning in MA - definitely smelling the smoke despite being > 30 miles across the bay on the Cape. #climate #mawx

Northeastern US brush fires are raging. Weā€™ve had record fires in MA with red flag days for much of Oct/Nov. The smoke was so heavy in the air last night on the Outer Cape that when I stepped outside at 12:00 a.m., I had to run for my binoculars to assure myself nothing was ablaze nearby. #climate

Art drawn by people who very rarely make art and think they are ā€œbad at artā€ is 1000x cooler than AI art. Itā€™s life-affirming. Itā€™s often unexpected. I cannot overemphasize how much I love when people just go for it. You do not need the machine for this human endeavor.

It was never about ā€œfree speechā€ over in the bad place.

Indeed. When they rounded up the Japanese Americans, myself and my family included, for internment during WWII out of fear over Japanese spies and saboteurs, two thirds of us were U.S. citizens. Donā€™t think it wonā€™t happen again when they come for the ā€œundocumented.ā€
