Brilliant from British ornithology - a little spin on their #Cuckoo tracking project 👏 Seriously though project is great for #geographyteacher #migration #Primaryteacher & lots of mileage! www.bto.org

It’s time to think about plants! And a new moon cycle. What’s blooming where you are? Links & teaching activities too. #biodiversity #environmentalLunacy naee.org.uk/environmenta...

Water pollution (esp on this scale) for profit must stop. Env damage must be healed. Water company profits must be used to pay - not bill payers. Investment to prevent repeat must happen. When is the government going to take effective action? What’s so hard? www.theguardian.com/business/202...

Today’s #CPD with #primaryteachers involved getting a bus into Bath and exploring the beautiful city using the Historical Map from the Historic Towns Trust and History of Bath Research group - lots of #geography and #history going on.

As a member of public & of the Wildlife Trust I’m angry to read this - it has been a locally contentious development as it is - now deliberate greenwashing from developer? Misleading evidence / fake news - it’s everywhere. #https://www.kentwildlifetrust.org.uk/news/highstead-park

Greenpeace must pay hundreds of millions over Dakota pipeline protests, says jury - the ultra wealthy fossil fuel lobby influence at work - oh & the founder of the company is a major Trump donor .. 😥 www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Appeal court rules in favour of £3bn bailout for Thames Water. ‘deal will give company £1.5bn in cash from creditors … plus up to £1.5bn more .. to … increase bills by > 35% allowed by the industry regulator … Ofwat’ Not an outcome I was hoping for at all. You? www.theguardian.com/business/202...

A brisk blowy walk in bitter NE wind across marshes today. Bright skies but bleak wildlife spotting - one Common Buzzard, a Brown Hare & a Marsh Harrier, Chaffinch, Robin & Heron. Lots of Gulls and Partridge though. Spotted a field full of Swans in distance on way home though.

Have you ever heard of Coots nesting in fir trees? I didn’t believe my friend til she showed me two eggs that had fallen out of the nest - maybe helped out by something else? Her garden backs onto marshes and dykes too so why would they do this?

The importance of #soil & how we use it is fundamental to healthy environments & something we rely on for food production. Nina explains some basics of this time in the #farming year & gives a bit of UK historical context, useful links & teaching ideas #primaryteacher naee.org.uk/environmenta...

Surprise as some children on Isle of Sheppey allocated a place at a school in Faversham! Wondering if they’ve used ‘as the crow flies’ principle rather than looking at a map? School bus to Sittingbourne + stops takes a good hour & some ch leave home at 7am already!#geographymatters

Are you engaging with NAEE Year of #EnvironmentalLunacy? Each lunar month guest Bloggers explain a chosen Moon name as relevant to UK. Read why traditional ‘Plough Moon’ name chosen & get farming info plus teaching activities. Slow down with nature! #Teaching naee.org.uk/environmenta...

Girl told me she won’t drink at school so she doesn’t need toilet til she gets home. That’s 7am - 16:30. As a parent / g/parent / member of society I’d rather a happy child who is treated like a human being rather than a traumatised child with high grades. What on earth is going on at some schools?

What wonder-full education looks like! I’ve been gifted these booklets celebrating @attention2place.bsky.social work #WhispersofChalkStream as a community project & it’s glorious! Relational learning with & as part of #nature. ❤️

Thank you @martinlewis.moneysavingexpert.com as car insurance renewal came through this week - cheaper than last year! I watched your programme so didn’t get as excited as I might have done! Went online & immediately saw something £100 cheaper. But I chose a platinum AA package for £60 less. Great!

Which invertebrate would you nominate? Hoverflies are wonderful creatures to have buzzing around your garden - a great contender - activity here for fieldwork in school grounds & cross curricular work #biodiversity #pollinator

Started planting our raised boxes in the local #Communitygarden this week - Rosemary, Sage, Thyme, Lavender the first to go in all grown from cuttings. Our new hedgerow is budding & our native fruit trees too. Everything so water logged though!

Great! #Beaver releases into wild to be allowed in England for first time in centuries www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Fabulous weekend primary geography conference #CharneyConf25 with familiar & new colleagues - everyone brought their best & it was brimming with learning & ideas. Thank you all. Can’t wait to do it all again next year.

Writing weekend away with #WildRoots www.facebook.com/share/1KBJrZ... lots of fun & do give us a follow as we develop & perform our own songs. But now back to day job as have a presentation to finish for #CharneyGeogConf25

A journey today took us south to East Sussex via Staplehurst where we had to stop & investigate this #Viking door dated from the 11th century, with its beautiful ironwork. www.greatenglishchurches.co.uk/html/stapleh...

Yes to Catkins, seen Herons, hearing many early Blackbirds, watched Brent Geese gathering , Short-Eared Owls hunting, Marsh Harriers and Buzzards calling -sadly seen no Snowdrops & only 1 Squirrel! It’s about noticing what’s about in your patch #EnvironmentalLunacy! naee.org.uk/environmenta...

Off to Jarrow today to talk to teenagers about “play and youth sufficiency” - do they play out/hang out? do they have “sufficient” opportunities? where do they play? what gets in the way? what might make things better?

Lucky enough to see Short eared #Owls and this beautiful #Kestrel out walking the dog yesterday. Despite the presence of the dog who has zero stalking skills! He does have very loud mousing skills though. #nature

I for one will not be celebrating the 5 year anniversary of #Brexit. Grew up in an era of free movement & work & enjoyed using those rights as did my peers. It’s a shame young people today can’t have the same experiences. Latest #Yougov polls are interesting on the topic.

Stop worrying about bats and newts? No Rachel Reeves MP – start worrying about the future of our economy if we tear down the nature it depends on. Nature isn’t a blocker; it’s the foundation of growth.
