Just wrote a letter, i nGaeilge, to verify my parents were born in Belfast and therefore my daughter is eligible for Irish citizenship. I myself, not a citizen by birth, but a mere Sassanach, can't do it on my own behalf. I thought the ol' "A chara...mise le meas" was a nice touch, though.

America, internationally, has never had a light footprint. Millions of people have died under our tread. Now we're not tip-toeing, or walking, we're stomping. On human beings. Ukraine -- squelch. Africa -- squelch. Latin America -- squelch. One often notices much of the world hates us. Not enough.

Good grief, @cnn.com. Could you get any more maudlin over the deaths of 3 Israeli hostages in Gaza killed by Israeli airstrikes? Or pay any less attention to the 47,000 other HUMAN BEINGS killed by Israeli airstrikes? You weren't always such a propagandistic joke.

I hesitate to lapse into hyperbole, but the Trump presidency is becoming genuinely terrifying.
