If you blame/attack Democrats more than Republicans, you are not on the left.

i was just complaining about this to a friend a few days ago. the punditry is obsessed with this retreat to discourse, where there is an inability to examine the actual phenomenon itself. instead, they engage in language games or treat politics as a question of definitions

Unlike social media users, normal Democrats actually did infinitely more to stop fascist by … voting for Democrats.

The left will always do the "well, the thing Trump is doing is actually good, but he's not doing it for the right reasons" because the left exists solely to launder Trump's actions for the media. This is a disaster. People need to STOP with this bullshit.

Voters were lying to you. They didn’t care about costs. They supported this stuff. That’s why Biden’s cost savings didn’t gain him any support.

Lots of people thought that endlessly haranguing democrats would have no impact on democrats’ electoral potential. Those people should be ignored forever.

They need to start including Discord in this poll for exactly this reason.

Again, it’s really important that people understand the information space effect here includes left-wing spaces. Their near-constant degrading of the Democratic Party validates the GOP messaging that says the same. People who don’t consume politics regularly just get the message “Dems are bad.”

He’s correct about this problem, but he doesn’t realize this is also a problem in left spaces. People only get their news about Democrats from Republicans or leftists, both of whom hate Democrats.

Social media has permanently damaged its users ability to discern fact from fiction, to change their mind when confronted with new information, to view people they disagree with as human, and to view conversation or discussion as anything other than a performance for a cheering audience.

He’s got a point.

We now have a ton of evidence that not only does this not work, it has been actively counterproductive. The left-of-center movement has been in retreat since the dawn of Twitter. Maybe something to consider!

Social media and the internet have turned an entire generation of people into deranged sociopaths. It’s basically that simple.

if you follow me you are probably already sick of me talking about this but it's amazing the extent to which dem electeds and especially normie dem voters still do not understand this!

What’s frustrating here is that it is correct that the coordinated effort is a story — perhaps even the biggest story. But it’s like Hasan has compromising photos of these people with the way the mainstream media treats him. He said he doesn’t have a problem with Hezbollah and America deserved 9/11

They must have adopted some visionary antitrust policies in Texas

An underrated explanation for why bankers weren't sent to prison after the 2008 financial crisis is that when prosecutors brought what they thought was a winning case, the two guys got acquitted. www.nytimes.com/2009/11/11/b...

While this is true, methinks the people who actually need to read this don’t think it’s about them. The Harris campaign, democrats, etc — these people were not guaranteeing a win by any means.

It’s incredibly weird how they took all these people at their word.

What’s crazy about Stancil is that he can fire off a certified banger like this, which is objectively true, and the participate in this exact behavior for the next six hours. We are watching a master at work.

This is the thing. People have and are willing to accept heterodox views — some far left, some far right, some bog center — and it makes the whole “Dems have to move right” or “Dems have to move left” debate pointless. They have to do both, depending on the salient issues!

Yeah, it’s terrible to want to win elections. Couldn’t agree more.

Nathan J. Robinson never made a serious effort to be a good writer, Ghazelleberner argues.

HOUSE UPDATE Republicans: 220 seats Democrats: 214 seats TBD: 1 seat (CA13, Dems lead) Could be a 220-215 majority, which shrinks to 217-215 early 2025 when you subtract Gaetz, Stefanik, Waltz. The GOP gerrymander in North Carolina (flipped 3 Dem seats) saved their majority.

This remains the single biggest problem democrats face. They are consistently held accountable for things the internet left says and does, even (and maybe especially) if they don’t agree with it.

Sure, but then you have to unpack why they don’t like those people, which is the much thornier problem.

We know the answer to his core question: people get their information from half-remembered NYT headlines or social media takes their friends tell them in conversation. That’s it. That’s the problem we have to solve.

The difference that no one talks about is that the marriage equality movement happened pre-Twitter. Social media destroys absolutely everything it touches because it collapses nuance. And yet there is still NO ONE writing about that. Trump, BLM, antivax, transgender rights, all of it is Twitter.
