When even your whips won’t whip or vote for a Bill, you must surely pause and rethink. The Welfare Bill is cruel. It is morally wrong, economically illiterate and politically naive. Bravo this woman, that’s what leadership looks like 👇

It's quite remarkable that the elite of the British right has chosen *now* as the moment to go blood-and-soil. When the actual public have probably never been as un-racist as they are.

Feels like quite a few people have been waiting their whole lives for the moment when being openly racist in print is no longer career ending and are determined to make the most of it.

It is important to understand that Trump's idea has always been that trade deals are a unilateral exercise in his setting a price: he is doing trade deals with himself in his own head

I see a lot of Conservative right wing Brexiters pointing out a number of factors behind British economic decline. Quite amazingly they omit the biggest factor, and the one they were responsible for. Brexit @anthonybarnett.bsky.social

So jealous of French people today. ☹️

Today in 1215 King John reluctantly affixed his seal to Magna Carta, a document which placed restrictions on his royal power. It has come to represent the centuries long battle to restrain capricious, insane, despotic leaders. That's a work in progress

Agree with Kevin. I think there’s a big chunk of the UK right now- and certainly all of the bits which control institutions- that are in complete denial a) about our ageing population and b) what the policy implications of the political choices they made 2010 to 2024 and indeed since *are*.

There's your answer.

Sen Cory Booker is already on the Senate floor speaking out. He’s right: this isn’t an isolated incident—it’s a pattern of abuse by the Trump regime targeting those who dare to hold them accountable & law enforcement engaged in racial profiling. 🤬🤬🤬 @booker.senate.gov

To those saying they’ll just move to Canada, we are not a hotel but, rather, a sovereign country with very different values. We support: abortion and trans care universal healthcare multiculturalism paying taxes for services for everyone - even those you don’t like #CanadaStrong #NotAHotel

🔴 The ‘Millionaire Exodus’ the UK Media Told You About Never Actually Happened The equivalent of 30 stories a day were published about an exodus of wealthy people that a new study finds was “non existent” bylinetimes.com/2025/06/10/t...

For generations, London has attracted talented people from around the globe who have enriched our city economically, socially and culturally. As a diverse, inclusive and cosmopolitan city, we continue to be open to anyone who shares our values and vision.

The number of women wearing the burqa is tiny. The vast majority of Muslim women wear their hair out, wear make up & western clothing. But hey.The burqa helps conceal the racism, the attempts at division, power, control and ratings. The obsession with it is like a sickness that won’t go away.

I asked a BBC spokesperson to set out any examples of the corporation drawing up specific plans to secure the support of voters for other political parties in the UK, but they were unable to do so bylinetimes.com/2025/06/09/b...

This is why the BBC should be restructured to become a bastion of objective truth. Ros Atkins and BBC Verify should be viewed as (nice) viruses that spread and consume everything else. Leave "heated debates" to others. Lord knows we need a factual anchor in this brave new world.

I swear every time I see a push notification from BBC news it’s some version of: ‘Reform may have lost an election/suffered a massive blow/erupted into civil war…but here is why its actually good news for Farage’s party’

A truly terrible development, for everyone. Things will not be ok in this country until liberal conservatism returns, but by God there isn't much sign of that.

So, to be clear, Musk has now admitted he funded a man he believes to be a pedophile to be president. And Trump has now admitted that he gave access to high level government secrets to a man he believes to be a big time drug addict. This should be *the* story on the Sunday shows tomorrow.

🔴How the Media is Trying to Talk a Nigel Farage Government Into Reality Why for much of the British press, the unlikely story of Reform UK's rise to power is simply "too good to check" www.adambienkov.co.uk/p/how-the-me...

Oooh, you mean it's OK to leave, realise it's a mistake, then rejoin? 😉

Should we follow Putin out of the ECHR? Or is it just another Brexit where we give up our rights in the vain pursuit of making migrants disappear?

Doge saved very little money, gutted crucial departments, directly led to 100s of 1000s of avoidable deaths, trashed Musk’s business reputation and ended after less than five months in a gruesome bust-up with the president. But sure, copy that model

"if Farage lets others reach for the dog whistle, he may find he has lost control of the tune" Don't need to be a psychologist to know this column has little to do with Farage/Reform -its Fraser's apologia for his promotion of racism & fascism as Spectator editor www.thetimes.com/comment/colu...

Fellow veggies - the Hawksmoor does THE BEST pudding l've ever had in my whole life (the salted caramel sundae). It is basically an orgasm in food form. Just because you don't eat meat don't feel like you can’t go. Just saying.

The Telegraph should surely now run an inquiry to find the mole on the subs-desk who is trying to bring the newspaper into disrepute with their work on its headlines www.telegraph.co.uk/money/earn-3...

I think I have got to the bottom of the curious case of the faked Telegraph article about the rich banker who could not afford school fees, which was first flagged by @ianfraser.bsky.social pressgazette.co.uk/publishers/n...

TikTACO.

Tories would do well to expel her. The accommodation she has made with the Trump/Musk authoritarianism, and where she locates herself by describing the last govt as leftist/globalist, are disgraceful.

As berks go berserk over the burqa (again) millions of Muslims will not give a hoot as they mark Eid today, thinking of what really matters. Children dying of starvation in Gaza.

Eid Mubarak. Wishing Muslims in the UK and around the world a joyful Eid al-Adha and celebrations with the people you love.

Wishing a happy and blessed Eid Al Adha to everyone celebrating in the UK and around the world. Eid Mubarak!

Think this is the thing that a lot of Doctor Who discourse is missing: your problem isn't 'your show is in crisis'. Your problem is 'your show's industry is in crisis'.

Elon Musk, who until a matter of days ago was a Trump administration employee, is now alleging that Donald Trump is in the Epstein files.

Your occasional reminder that in two years' time, Nigel Farage will be taking his gold plated £73,000 annual EU pension.
