I found some time and wrote a blog on the fake reCAPTCHA phishing issue. Wrote a blog on how it all unfolded, the risks of making these tools widely available, and my take on the whole situation. If you're interested, give it a read! 👇 🔗

STOP reading books and START drinking paint

Well this is a handy blog. This feels like one of those blogs you bookmark and refer back to frequently. Hey fellow DFIR types, you should read this too.

spent my evening playing in Lightroom and revising some old photos from 6 years or so ago that I never really did much with. I've been pretty satisfied with the revised versions like this one. I sometimes enjoy post-process work more than shooting, to be honest.

spinning the eponymous trilogy from side D of Lorna Shore's Pain Remains album tonight. lornashore.bandcamp.com/album/pain-r... I can see why a lot of metal fans can't get into deathcore bands like these guys but there's some pretty solid songwriting here.

first record spin of the night goes to... royalthunder.bandcamp.com/album/cvi Wish I had a physical version of the CVI:A acoustic tracks

Bro's about to cast Meteor on Golbez despite not having enough MP

once upon a time years ago I snuck in an extra day on an engagement in Honolulu (at my own expense!) and did one of those helicopter tours Those doors-off MD500 rides were awesome for photography

Almost goes without saying, but for educational and healthcare institutions especially, the chaotic climate in the US is basically a dream come true for phishers. Expect lots of lures related to grant money/funding being threatened.

One of my favorite shots from the last year or so. Badasses.

Seen this movie before. Didn't go so well. And now, after Salt Typhoon, even FBI is recommending end-to-end encryption. Experts will always insist: a backdoor in encryption is a backdoor for all. www.bbc.com/news/article...

A blog post¹ by Jacob Torrey on a new feature we excluded from Canary. It’s easy to ship everything you build, but resisting it is worth the effort. Is the benefit worth the increased cognitive load? Does it introduce new risks? (This time it did!) __ ¹ blog.thinkst.com/2025/02/almo...

Update your AMD Zen processor's BIOS: www.amd.com/en/resources... Check with your OEM for BIOS updates with the new microcode patches, they have had some time to address this high importance item.

how to cope with all the news in the galaxy

sick sick art

SD needs a vendor to grade the firewalls of local government networks as part of a push to improve cybersecurity. Lawmakers put $7 million in state money toward the effort in 2024 after former Gov. Kristi Noem turned down federal dollars meant to accomplish the same goal.

(little domino) banning hentai from the sa forums (big domino) all of this

I like to watch I Do Cars. Taking apart mechanical stuff is a ton of fun. It's pretty fun to watch the host work through the sorta forensic process of figuring out why the episode's engine is bad. (this is a reminder to check your oil, car-havers) www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8lS...

doomscroll combobreaker if anyone needs one; enjoy this pronghorn I photographed a few years back

Remember to spread a little joy, even if it will be fleeting

saw "the rise of initial access brokers" on someone's 2025 cyber whatever list, and... uh... I think you might be a few years late there, chief.
