Binge-watched Miss Austen & loved it. @gibbzer.bsky.social 's script is perfectly pitched, so Jane & Cassandra's relationship is both touching & believable, & you have a visceral sense of how precarious women's lives were. Keeley Hawes, Patsy Ferran and Jessica Hynes are all brilliant, too.

This week on the podcast @gibbzer.bsky.social discusses adapting books for tv, the BBC series MISS AUSTEN & 3 Films That Have Impacted Everything In Your Adult Life linktr.ee/stuartwright

#MissAusten What a gorgeous triumph. Storytelling perfection in every frame and an acting masterclass from the entire cast.

Joggers? Jog on. Hear all about it on this week's THE OLD FOOLS Podcasts are rarely so grumpy. Or so funny.

I try not to read too much about Trump because it does my head in, but Martin Wolf is always worth reading on any topic. And he's not mincing his words here. www.ft.com/content/6a4d...

I've just watched the last episode of Miss Austen and will consequently be lying here in this puddle of tears for the foreseeable. Damn you, @gibbzer.bsky.social.

Got to add to the mountain of deserved plaudits for the magnificent Miss Austen on the BBC. Perfectly cast, brilliantly written and directed (shout out to @gibbzer.bsky.social and Aisling Walsh). Balances humour and heart-break with consumate skill. One of the best things I've watched for ages.

Patsy Ferran is so good as Jane Austen in Miss Austen. Sheā€™s one of the best actors working today, so clever and witty but with such depth. I loved her as Eliza Doolittle in the otherwise not great Pygmalion at the Old Vic, and still canā€™t believe Covid prevented me from seeing her as Blanche Dubois

"Itā€™s devastating for usā€”and for anyone who is worried about getting Alzheimerā€™s, or has already gotten Alzheimerā€™s, and is hoping there will be better treatments in the future. Itā€™s a huge blow.ā€

We live in an unbearably embarrassing world

Proper mad king stuff how Trump is essentially taking a hammer to the international order all while saying the maddest shit imaginable, and other world leaders are like ā€œTrump is absolutely correct to raise this issueā€

Calling Zelensky a ā€œDictatorā€ must be where the line is drawn. It is my sincere hope that the whole political spectrum in the United Kingdom will speak with one voice in opposition to Trumpā€™s lies.

Iā€™m George Takei and I approve of this message.

The Miss Austen Soundtrack album is released on all platforms today! Link in comments. The feedback has been so amazing. Here is a little video of us getting ready for the first session at Abbey Road Studio 2.

Just finished watching #MissAusten, quite fittingly with my sister on #EarpSistersSunday. As people who I know love sister relationships and feelings and women who don't always adhere to societal norms, and if you, like me #Earpers, also love a period drama, I highly recommend it. We loved it šŸ„°

Patsy Ferran is quite amazing as Jane Austen #MissAusten

The last episode of #MissAusten has me in bits. Such a wonderful adaptation. Again BBC don't give up on period drama because when you do it right you can't beat it!

Episode 3 of Miss Austen is on tonight at 9.05pm Here's my review of the series on Substack open.substack.com/pub/eastondr...

Vogue recommends #MissAusten itā€™s a delicate and moving examination of grief, regret, longing and heartbreak' Episode 3 this Sunday. All episodes on the iPlayer now. www.vogue.co.uk/article/new-...

A delight to chat with you Standard Issue. Thanks 'Miss Austen is screenwriter Andrea Gibbā€™s beautiful adaptation of Gill Hornbyā€™s historical fiction for the BBC. Mick caught up with Andrea to talk sisterly love, sisterhood, and Jane Austen (obvs).' Listen here: bit.ly/3OJWglr pic.x.com/lt1wRolOo9

Well Iā€™m loving everything about ā€˜Miss Austenā€™ currently airing on BBC One but of course Iā€™ve an eye on the costume design. Spoiler, it doesnā€™t disappointā€¦L Patsy Ferran as Jane (credit BBC/Bonnie Productions/Masterpiece/Robert Viglasky). R ca 1818 spencer, velvet faced with satin. via The V&A.

Loving #MissAusten Casting is brilliant! A perfect example of why the BBC shouldn't give up on period drama yet.

Patsy Ferran is such a wonderful actress #MissAusten
