I write a blog where I ask questions like, "How much harder is it to launch my enemies into the sun than out of the solar system?" I think you should check it out: gierratio.com he/him

Europe is looking pretty tempting this time of (every) year But seriously, this is dope. Need some of that magic (see: dedicated effort) over here

My spouse's work paid for us to get wagyu steak last night. And honestly, I get why people want to be rich now

Roughly a 2, until I get mad. Then it's a 1....

I've been learning French for about half a year now and recently turned my Siri to French to help me practice. By sheer chance I came across the best possible unintentional side effect

I took a family photo of Venus, Saturn, and Neptune on Jan 27. Maybe not as pretty as some #astrophotography pics, but the fact that I captured enough photons from Neptune to see it even from a light-polluted backyard is pretty neat

My little baby* Chopin had her adoption fee waived cause she had been at the shelter for more than a month. She was the only cat who wanted anything to do with me when I opened her cage. I've long wondered what's wrong with all the people who came in that month *9-year old

More #astrophotography! I was trying to catch M32, but that pesky Andromeda added so much light pollution that all I got was this little blob off to the side :) I learned Photoshop for this. Or, as my brother said, I "scratched the surface of Photoshop"

Baby's first #astrophotography pic:* Orion Nebula, Canon 100D, 1000x1s, 6400 ISO, 300mm f/5.6 lens, not motorized eq. mount, backyard (bortle 7). Learned a whole heckin' lot. Can't wait to do more even if I have to spend two hours in 10° weather again *that wasn't an iPhone held up to a telescope

My uncanny ability to plug in a USB on the first try has gotten a lot less impressive with the move to USB-C...

I was born on the same day as Nate Mendel (Foo Fighters' bassist) and Chris Wolstenholme (Muse's bassist). I'm convinced my destiny is to become a bassist for a famous rock band without being personally famous

Actually, it's Dr. Who's monster. Dr. Who was the doctor.

there is no such thing as "enough coffee"

Until I can get a football-toaster that can function as both simultaneously, I will be unimpressed. What better way for a QB to thank your WR than to get that gooey center heated and edges toasted while the ball is headed their way?

Little known fact: this is actually how Agatha Christie first envisioned MotOE, but she realized the world wouldn't be ready for it given the Muppets wouldn't be created for another 21 years. She did always plan on Daniel Craig playing Hercule Poirot, however.

Have we tried just turning the climate off and back on again? That's what I usually do when my PC starts getting a little too hot.

Breaking: the International Astronomical Union has declared Neptune no longer a planet because "I dunno, it just looked cooler when it was blue"

New blog post just dropped, perfect this holiday season for the Star Wars lover in your life gierratio.com/blog/lightsa...

A while back I had the incredible fortune to find this Lunar Orbit Chart for Apollo 17 (which launched today in 1972!) at an antique mall. Be jealous.

I'm just here so I won't get fined...or something to that effect.... Anyway, I write a blog where I ask dumb questions like "What are the climatological implications of the Thanos snap?" With absolutely no bias, I highly recommend it: gierratio.com/blog/climate...
