In spite of immense losses and increasing damage to Russia's economy, Putin kept the war against Ukraine going in the hope that his tool, Trump, would come to his aid. Had Trump been a loyal American, Putin would almost certainly have sought peace much earlier.

I don’t think she’s been forgotten, but all the fiction of Lois McMaster Bujold, especially the Vorkosigan saga—all of it should be way, way more famous, in my opinion. She’s one of my favorite novelists, full stop. I would die of delight if smart creative folks made a good Vorkosigan TV series.
