Why can't we run the government like a business? Because "move fast and break stuff" isn't a cool edgy business plan when the stuff being broken is tens of thousands of human lives.

What these nihilistic vandals are doing to dismantle science & medicine—generations of expertise & public service & life improving benefits—is cultural revolution level national self harm. No foreign foe could inflict such brutal damage & senseless suffering on US so fast & effectively & unresisted.

Regulations, like labor laws, are written in blood. Adding chalk or plaster of Paris to flour killed people until that was regulated. Lead in paint. Asbestos. Arsenic. Not letting children work with limb-chopping machinery. Blood.

If I were an elected official I'd be having some very blunt conversations with constituents about what "regulations" are for. How much rat shit are they willing to accept in their packaged food to cut a line item from the budget?
