HERE WE GO: Chief Judge James Boasberg finds probable cause for contempt of court against the Trump administration. In a masterclass move, he asks the government whether they’ll purge the contempt (by complying) or identify the people in the administration who should be subject to sanctions.

This administration is literally disappearing innocent people off the street and sending them to brutal foreign prisons in defiance of a unanimous Supreme Court. This fact must scare every American who respects the rule of law and loves the ideals on which this country was founded. #ResistTrump

Molly Jong-Fast: “I'm going to respectfully push back on this. This is thought policing 101. This is not okay. They are using anti-antisemitism as a cloak. This is about targeting speech. It has nothing to do with anti-antisemitism and everything to do with authoritarianism.” #HarvardUniversity

I’m about to board my flight to El Salvador, where I hope to meet with senior government officials to discuss the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. I also hope to see Kilmar and check on his condition — and remind him that we won’t stop fighting until he’s home.

New revelations from our Signalgate lawsuit reveal that key messages on CIA Director Ratcliffe's phone were deleted by someone with access to the discussion. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/15/u...

This was 100% predictable (and predicted). The big firms that capitulated will cave and do whatever Trump wants. He owns them and will humiliate them for the next 3+ years. If you are a lawyer at one of these firms, leave now with your dignity. If you are a law student -- is this what you want?

Notice that once Canada including @markcarneyforpm.bsky.social stood up to our psycho 34x felon-potus, the disrespect and aggressive talk from him ceased. The way you deal with bullies is to give them no quarter. Lesson for other countries, companies, & institutions.

Says the guy whose charity was shut down by the state of New York for making illegal campaign contributions.

Direct File, the free tax-reporting tool built by IRS, is working incredibly well. Its an example of the type of low-cost, high-value product that skilled technologists can create in govt. It is also under threat from IRS layoffs. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/this-tax-d...

So what is China's tariff rate? 145% got thrown around a lot, but In a "fact sheet" yesterday it was "up to 245%" based on existing Section 301 tariffs. I'm no fan of the CCP, but I am a fan of consistency. I'm glad I am not an importer right now trying to navigate these Kafkaesque changes.

Wow it’s almost as if this was an entirely predictable outcome, you fools

Hell isn't freezing over. This is theatre to make R voters *think* that they are taxing the rich. If they are serious, they would reform tax laws that would actually tax the rich. But they won't do that.

I think it’s worse than that. They want to break it because they know it *does* work, and they don’t want it to work for anyone but them.

A Republican lawmaker wants to rename Greenland “Red, White, and Blueland.”

Calling Congress isn't always easy, people like @novicsara.bsky.social, who is deaf, who use relay services get hung up on. For @motherjones.com, I looked into limits with urges to call Congress, and one cool solution: @autisticadvocacy.org's proxy calling system. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Ed Martin cannot be confirmed.

A federal judge has ruled that five government agencies must release billions in funding for climate and infrastructure projects paused under Trump.   Judge Mary McElroy — a Trump appointee — issued the temporary injunction. It instructs the admin to release the funds while a lawsuit proceeds.

they're attacking states over transgender athletes to "protect women" when there are only a handful of transgender athletes in the entire country meanwhile thousands of athletes are sexually assaulted, often by their male coaches, and there's no outrage there it's not about protecting women

Citizens United is among the worst decisions in history. It corrupts our system every day.

Steve Kerr wore a Harvard basketball shirt after the Warriors’ win tonight: “Yes, this is me supporting Harvard. Way to go. Way to stand up to the bully.”

According to a memo shared with PBS News by a group of both former and current NOAA employees, an early draft of the White House budget plan envisions a far “leaner NOAA,” cutting more than a quarter of the agency’s 2026 budget. buff.ly/IA29exb

SCOTUS, in a 9-0 vote ruled to bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia back. He refused. Judge Xinis ordered him to report back to her on his status. He refused. Only dictators ignore the judiciary and rule of law. Who's next? It could be anyone, if we don't continue to speak out and take to the streets.

Thank you @jeffjarvis.bsky.social

A MORAL CRISIS “The rule of law is being trampled. Innocent people are being disappeared. Court orders are being ignored. If you claim to love this country—if you believe in the Constitution, due process, order, and justice—this must be your line in the sand.” Take 3 minutes. This is important.

First they came for the innocent man deported to a Salvadoran gulag on an “administrative error” they falsely claim they’re powerless to reverse, flouting court orders even from the Supreme Court — and I spoke out, because I know how the damn poem ends.

So you can take over Greenland and Canada but can’t send a plane to pick up someone you are paying another country to hold for a year? Weird take on sovereignty.

There’s just so much shady shit in this story, but this really sticks out. Folks in NLRB’s IT unit were so freaked out by what they saw DOGE doing that they wanted to notify the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Then this happened:

Mr. Abrego Garcia was illegally abducted by the Trump Admin and, by their own admission, wrongly deported to El Salvador. He shouldn’t have to spend another second away from his family. I'm flying to El Salvador tomorrow morning to check on his condition and discuss his return.

Trump just signed an executive order on drug prices, handing a win to Big Pharma. He's directing Congress to delay Medicare drug price negotiation for pill-based drugs by four years. Pharma lobbied for the change after Medicare was allowed to negotiate drug prices under Biden.

When ICE agents descended upon 19-year-old Merwil Guttiérez in New York City, they realized he was not the intended target of their operation — but they arrested the boy anyway. Merwil was, in fact, in the United States legally — from Venezuela, seeking asylum. Merwil’s father, Wilmer Guttiérez,…
