4’x3’ WIp commission, working in stages layering a random but consistent value background. Most of it will be covered when it is done, but I’m trying to avoid “filling in” the background once I’ve added the subjects (a “trippy family portrait”) to the foreground.

Galaxie' was the French edition of Galaxy. Initially the covers were from the US editions, but from the late 1960s they increasingly used original artwork - here's some examples (Artist: 1-3 by Philippe Druillet, 4 by Gilles Rimbault):
