Is the 1.5°C limit still in reach? Google search summarised it as "no" based on a @climateanalytics.org FAQ (first figure). The webpage says "yes" (second figure)! You can read the Climate Analytics page here: climateanalytics.org/comment/is-t... 1/

Here is a feature I wish way more sites had - a simple alt text copy button

Will Lamb @wflamb.bsky.social has pulled the troops together & submitted an article to explain why different datasets can give different estimates of GHG emissions. My favourite: differences in accounting for fire emissions. Article in review, please comment! essd.copernicus.org/preprints/es...

Probably the best example of a collapse in the uptake of carbon dioxide on land (LULUCF) is in Finland. A significant and sustained carbon sink turned into a source in 10 years. robbieandrew.github.io/country/?cou... 1/

Greenhouse gas emissions are still mostly from fossil fuels by the way!! lambwf.github.io/UNEP-Gap-Rep...

Estonian land use, land-use change, & forestry (LULUCF) has gone from a net removal of carbon to a net source of carbon over the last decade. robbieandrew.github.io/country/?cou...

Under the Paris Agreement, developing countries need to start reporting their GHG emissions in a standard format. @robbieandrew.bsky.social has started to make country pages which brings this data together. For example, Nigeria: robbieandrew.github.io/country/?cou... 1/

Is Russia reporting substantially less wood production and export to the UNFCCC than it reports to the FAO in recent years? robbieandrew.github.io/country/?cou...

I've put together a webpage with country-level charts that @glenpeters.bsky.social and I produce. Currently 89 countries, not all with same charts. More to come, including data downloads. Explore for yourself here: robbieandrew.github.io/country/

The EU has a target to maintain land use, land-use change, and forestry (LULUCF) at -310MtCO2/yr by 2030. Currently, LULUCF is moving in the wrong direction, due to climate impacts and increased harvest. Check out similar figures for your favourite country: robbieandrew.github.io/country/

The EU has released its latest GHG emission inventory, with data up to 2023. The good news, GHG emissions continue a downward trend, currently 37% below 1990 levels. The bad news, a significant downward revision of land-use removals (LULUCF). 1/

Scenarios assessed by the IPCC that are consistent with 1.5°C with no or low overshoot have a very large range of gas use. What this doesn't show if that the world uses a lot of gas, then it means it must use less of something else (e.g. coal or oil, or more CCS or CDR). This is hard to show! 1/
