Finished a horrible new thing about Labour today Wrote something about it here: www.spellingmistakescostlives.com/single-post/...

Really looking forward to this. I will be joining a very esteemed panel! I hope to talk about some of our work at @gsiexeter.bsky.social about carbon offsetting (and why it often simply doesn't work). www.tickettailor.com/events/fligh...

I hope the good folks at Cyngor Gwynedd (Gwynedd Council) are not scared off serving their community by this ignorant trash from people whose value system starts and ends with making rich people richer.

This Spanish City has been car-free for more than 20 years. Air pollution is down by 61%, no traffic deaths since 2009: https://buff.ly/2D3Ghwd We have so many solutions. Implement them. #ActOnClimate #climate #energy #renewables #carfree #phaseoutfossilfuels

"Four months after Good Law Project made a formal complaint over Lord Walney’s conflicts of interest, the Home Office has bowed to mounting pressure and sacked its controversial adviser on protest." goodlaw.social/z6qj

We're shocked by Trump and Musk's antics because we judge them against the idea that governments should serve the people. But they have no such intention. Government for them is simply about seizing power and wealth. Let's stop being shocked, and build a global, democratic counter-movement.

It's been a long time since Private Eye's satire has made me audibly wince, but this is so to the point if it were a knife people would demand it be banned.

Explain to me like I’m 10 years old: Why would we use our limited renewable energy for carbon dioxide removal instead of using it to curtail the use of fossil fuels?

Did you know the most powerful force for climate action is LOVE—for our children, their future, and the world they’ll inherit? That's right! Research shows this message moves hearts 12x more than jobs and 2x more than extreme weather. Source: potentialenergycoalition.org/guides-and-r...

Unbelievably, this man who is paid large sums by big business to influence government policy to destroy our planet and kill more people said: "we must do more to protect our democracy and its MPs from organised coercion" You couldn't make it up! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Good to hear this military, oil and gas lobbyist, who wants to criminalise peaceful democratic protest no longer has a role in our government (except that he still sits in the house of lords 😕) A big win thanks to @defendourjuries.bsky.social bylinetimes.com/2025/02/14/k...

The big deception is that GDP can be a measure of our wellbeing. Yes! --> let's focus on the real issues, not the personalities involved. Thanks for this, @georgemonbiot.bsky.social #DoughnutEconomics

Food is pretty important for humans to survive isn't it?

Juliet Stevenson reads the words of UK Political Prisoner Lucia Whittaker De Abreu outside the Royal Courts of Justice. On Jan 30, 1000+ people joined together in the road outside the courts for an exhibition action, undeterred by intense police intimidation. Watch on YouTube: youtu.be/FRfaQgCwmmg

If this were Just Stop Oil, there'd have been dozens of arrests, furious denunciations in the billionaire press and, perhaps, long jail sentences. Farmers have a right to protest, and the police respect it. Other people, it seems, not so much. The real #TwoTierPolicing www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/...

If @thesun.co.uk is worried about this 1.5% risk, they're gonna be terrified when they find out that continuing to oil and gas has a 90-100% likelihood of killing millions of people across the world! 💀💀💀

Join the GSI for our next seminar on the 12th February with author and social philosopher @romankrznaric.bsky.social, who will discuss his recently published book ‘History for Tomorrow’ on the problems facing humanity in the 21st century and how we can learn from history to tackle them.

I pulled out of today's Icebreaker concert at London Science Museum to protest SM’s greenwashing sponsorship by Adani & BP and Adani's complicity in violence by Israel against people in Gaza. GB News has reportedly lost *£100 million* as major advertisers steer clear amid concerns over the channel's toxic content. Not everyone's a fan, but #StopFundingHate works. Your support can help build the fightback: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/stop-gb-news

So cheering to hear Ed Miliband's positive and inspiring vision of a fossil fuel future on the Today programme today. It's great to hear a politician in power doing that. But what a shame he's going to spend billions on CCS. There's much better uses for that money. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

So which is it? "Puzzles", "Mystfies", "Stuns", "Shocks"... Makes quite a difference, no? I'd opt for "Radicalises" 😉

Cornwall Council has spent at least £1.3m in estate agent fees alone, to (fail to) privatise Newquay Airport cornwallreports.co.uk/how-the-atte...

When will Govt learn you can’t out-Reform Reform - you end up simply legitimising their toxic narrative. To see off populists, Labour needs to invest in public services & local communities, making a real difference to people’s lives - levy a wealth tax & use it to improve people’s lives *now*

"Einstein’s frustration became more obvious. “I cannot understand the passive response of the whole civilized world to this modern barbarism,” he told one interviewer." www.theatlantic.com/science/arch...

Let’s be clear. Labour said categorically they wouldn’t approve oilfields that lacked licences. This proposed new oilfield lacks a license, because the courts threw out the license it had. If Labour Govt issues a license, it’ll be a huge betrayal. Not to mention a #climatecrime.

Local councils are in desperate need of funding but this isn't the way to go. Council tax has long been recognised as regressive as it doesn't reflect wealth accumulated over time. It's not right that a that a house in Hartlepool is taxed more than a luxury flat in Battersea.

If this story is true, UK politics and the Labour party in particular, really has hit rock bottom. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
