April 21, 1978 - Cartoon - Solar power isn't feasible! allouryesterdays.info/2025/04/20/a...

Looking forward to this event at the University of #Exeter on Wednesday (23rd). I'll be talking about Transformative Adaptation and how another world is still, just, possible. Online and in person. Details via the link. #TrAd #Climate

Sounds like there were several major problems with this trial process. But the most basic is that judges think "the existence of a climate emergency is a matter of opinion" - although this was one of the agreed facts in the case 🤪 Hope justice prevails for these folk 🤞

Join the GSI for our next seminar series talk with guest speaker @rupertread.bsky.social, author and environmental philosopher, on the potential of transformative adaptation to achieve a decarbonised world. Please email [email protected] to confirm your place in-person or online. #GSIExeter

How do we redefine the #climate and #nature movement to include everyone who cares about climate and nature (that's 80+% of the population)? I'd like to hear Rupert Read @rupertread.bsky.social share some ideas at this talk at #Exeter Uni @gsiexeter.bsky.social www.exeter.ac.uk/events/detai...

Cars ruin cities in more ways than just running people over. Paris has reduced air pollution by 50-55% over the past 20 years through policies limiting traffic and banning polluting vehicles.

Looking forward to this event at the University of #Exeter later this month (23rd). I'll be talking about Transformative Adaptation and how another world is still, just, possible. Online and in person. Details via the link. #TrAd #Climate www.exeter.ac.uk/events/detai...

"What is the purpose of economics education? My systems mapping above brings me to a depressing conclusion: it is to uphold a neoliberal status quo which is driving our societies and our planet to ruin" - @katyrshields.bsky.social Superb series of essays- read all 4! 📚 medium.com/@katyrshield...

Transformative Adaptation is going to be cruicial in coming months and years, particularly as our elected goverments are going in such a dangerous direction. Join us on 23rd April to hear more about the approach, and what we can do to support it. www.exeter.ac.uk/events/detai...

MPs and private companies working together to rip off everybody else. It's become systematic and normalised. Let's change things using people power.

Maybe Sam needs to read this... Food industry executives warn the UK has 'reached a moment of threat to food security like none other we have seen' archive.ph/VC72M www.thegrocer.co.uk/news/whistle... @robinboardman.com

Prominent climate communicators continue to "joke" that what Trump is doing is "degrowth". It is not, and such claims are actively harmful. A quick🧵

I'm looking forward to hearing @rupertread.bsky.social talk about practical things we can all do to model what's needed for a liveable future. Centred around place, community and transformation. Join in person in #Exeter or online. www.exeter.ac.uk/events/detai...

😊🤷‍♂️

Dear Met Police, "serious disruption" = the climate crisis. That's what we need to be preventing, not peaceful protest.

🕯️Quaker Meeting for Worship🕯️ Upholding our worshipping community & in support of all who speak up for truth & integrity in the face of increasing state oppression. Outside New Scotland Yard Thurs 3 April 12-1pm All welcome, all faiths or none

Police broke into and raided a Quaker meeting house to disrupt 6 women meeting about the Gaza suffering and climate. The first arrest in a meeting house in living memory. Truly shocking. Quakers stand absolutely for non violence. Is there another side to this? www.quaker.org.uk/news-and-eve...

You think the arbitrary arrest of political dissenters cannot happen in the UK? It already does. www.quaker.org.uk/news-and-eve...

This should be an interesting talk 👀 @rupertread.bsky.social at @gsiexeter.bsky.social discussing his new book, Transformative Adaptation. Online option if you're not nearby. www.exeter.ac.uk/events/detai...

"...start where people are. Talk to them less about an invisible gas that needs to be eliminated by some future date, and more about high energy bills caused by volatile fossil fuel prices we can’t control..." By me & @carolinelucas.bsky.social .

Bizarre that if you assault your wife you get a 12 week suspended sentence, (so you don't even go to prison) but if you are a peaceful environmental activist like @rogerhallam.com trying to save lives, you get 4 years in prison. 🤷‍♀️ www.theguardian.com/football/202...

What the UK would do if it were serious about stopping rather than backing Israel’s genocide: ❗️halt spy flights in aid of Israeli intelligence ❗️stop trade negotiations with Israel ❗️ban goods from the occupied territories ❗️end arms supplies ❗️apply sanctions

"The goal of 'Carbon' isn’t to map out a plan for saving the Earth, but to rekindle a sense of relationship with it." Author Paul Hawken: "The core of it is about care, and kindness, and connection, and compassion, and generosity. That’s where regeneration starts.” grist.org/language/pau...

🚨GIVEAWAY🚨 Once I get to 5k followers on #Bluesky, I’ll pick ONE random winner from all those who like and share this post to receive a SIGNED copy of my Transformative Adaptation book. Open worldwide. Good Luck!  #giveaway #Giveaways #bookprize

Welfare cuts aren't just cruel, they're irrational. Poverty creates vast social and economic costs that short-sighted politicians don't account for. Read my latest piece: graceblakeley.substack.com/p/welfare-cu...

The government says it must balance its books and benefits cost too much, so they must be cut. Nothing could be further from the truth. youtu.be/rvTw4euk27E?...

Important article from George Simonson on his direct climate protests, & what they cost him. I'm grateful to George & all other protesters that have suffered grave injustices from the UK legal system. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
