I don't believe in Hell, but if I did I would die happy knowing there was a special seating section for anyone currently railing against "the sin of empathy," and every one of those seats is made with hot rusty barbs

As always, Satan could never do anything worse than what humans already do to each other. Satan's just an implementer of what we've already innovated. He gives us what we've thought in our hearts for others.

Good morning, Bluesky. My song for today and possibly the weekend is Satisfaction. Scream along - primal scream! youtu.be/CeVrSMVoHdk

For a bunch of different reasons, I think I need to hire someone to doom-scroll for me.

Catch up with our last episode and listen to (or watch!) the brilliant @delilahsdawson.bsky.social talking about letting go how each book is different and the idea of writing a perfect book can be a hinderance. All the ways to watch/listen: linktr.ee/ukpageone #booksky #podcast

Hi! I'm Delilah S. Dawson & Lila Bowen. I'm a NYT-bestselling author of over 30 books and dozens of comics for adults, YA, and middle grade. I love Star Wars, weird taxidermy, Olympic lifting, and gluten free baking. I will answer any non-googleable question about writing, publishing, or my work.

My laptop has done an update, and now Word is forcing Copilot on me, and I am livid. I want it to go away. It's not *enabled*, but I have to see the icon hovering on the side of the page, begging to be used. The tips and tricks for removing Copilot aren't working. @microsoft.com, this is TRASH.

It's like being in the passenger seat of a car sliding on black ice toward a bridge abutment, while the driver snorts another bump of ketamine and the people in the back won't stop singing "Deutschland über alles."

Maybe the bird flu can battle the new bat-vid ha ha just kidding they’re gonna team up

The way she spoke to him was like an adult to a misbehaving child and I think that works?

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Sci-fi is the sandbox of our future. Every story is a blueprint, a warning, or a dream waiting to take flight. Keep writing, keep wondering, and never stop reaching for the stars. 🚀✨ #SciFi #WritingCommunity"

Yup. It fucking hurt like hell the first time I owned up and apologized for a big mistake. So much of my ego was wrapped up in being right, rather than doing the right thing. I still make mistakes (we all do). It's easier for me to own up to them now, and to try to mitigate and learn from them.

Dang! I was going to make an omelette this morning, but I couldn’t remember the combination to the safe, so I had to settle for caviar.

In deep space the speed of light solves a lot of instant communication problems if you want it to, otherwise you can always have a proton storm mess with your communications, or have a direct hit on your communications array or whatever

Referring to a Nazi salute as a "controversial gesture" is morally the same as referring to the Final Solution as a "controversial policy."

Yeah, I would argue with video games, "good" AI isn't a bot/system that is impossible to beat, it's one the scales difficulty based on player ability. I want to barely make it across a map to the safe house that lets me stock up on everything before heading out again.

Definitely not the eyes of a chaos demon

Not seen the TV yet but just finished Mick Herron's Slow Horses, based on a long-ago recommendation by @rjbarker.bsky.social . Spy fic is not my usual fare but this is an absolute masterpiece, exquisitely written. Also superb audio narration by Sean Barrett.

The postal service is amazing DESPITE repeated efforts to hamstring it. Love my post office.

It’s deepest February, with cold in the air and snow on the ground, but here is a stack of new books and ARCs to keep you warm. What here is catching your eye?

I just don’t understand how this already horrible timeline keeps finding a way, literally every single day, to get worse.

Look, I’m not saying getting yourself a giant coffee drink will fix all your problems, but the science tells us there’s only one way to know for sure that it won’t

Soon may the Murderbot come It's saving humans (they're really dumb) One day when the killing is done We'll sit and watch T.V.

Yes, it’s totally inept.

“But move all your money to my digital memecoin!” 🙄

The true King was right.

As my event is at the Saratoga Music Hall, it will be a perfect time to debut "Palatable!" my six-hour musical exploration of the life and times of Millard Fillmore oh, and maybe I'll read from the upcoming book in the Old Man's War series in fact, let's go with just that second part, okay

sadly, some of the lesser-known members of the justice league seem to have become lost to history

You know what you don't see? Kung fu masters in professional sports. I mean, outside of actual kung fu that is. I suspect I've been lied to by movies and television.

Ahhh, there it is. Merchandising!

I am turning into a old man shaking his fist at the clouds, but I am happy that, aside from, you know, FASCISM, the things I'm grumpy about are relatively inconsequential, like sub-standard bot AI in video games and "relic-ed" guitars and using the phrase "centered around" instead of "centered on"

I have been pingponging between different NHS departments desperately trying to get my son's ongoing prescription sorted and honestly it's like having a third full time job. He's a child! Advcocating for my kid shouldn't take hours and hours of emails and phone calls and desperate pleading. Gahh

Trump DOJ says Jan. 6 pardons apply to other gun charges. He has now told them all, “If you answer the call when I ask you to become violent, you never have to worry about a thing!” www.npr.org/2025/02/20/n...
