Holy shit Ralph finally finished a review of a game he liked. And it's approaching 2 hours in length at that. Nicely done Skill Up team!

Apparently there is a game series called Pokémon? Yeah I hadn't heard of it either. Basically imagine Palworld but without guns.

My MSRP beauty has arrived. It's been very impressive thus far especially for a lower tier SKU. It's quiet and runs so cool (50c in some work loads) I've been wondering if the sensor is bugged 😶

The only thing we ever hear about Silksong are reassurances and denials from devs that come from Discord. Crazy idea but maybe hire a person to communicate your fans in a direct, organized, and consistent manner? Such a weird company.

The only thing crazier than Nintendo not releasing a new Mario Kart game for 11 years is that it seems to have been the right strategy.

The Stellar Blade PC demo surprised me by feeling a lot more like a well designed soulslike that's been overclocked by 20% VS feeling like a Devil May Cry. Plus the performance is absolute butter. I'll be all over it on release next week.

I hit 100% in Welcome Tour. I'm ready to pay for every bit of paid DLC they release in the years to come.

@lucyjames.games Well done! You're an absolute badass!

Every gamer is now exactly 36 years old and everyone else just plays 5 free to play games that are inscrutable to everyone over the age of 55.

MSRP video cards do exist (for 3 minutes on launch day)!

I foolishly predict that this week is the week we'll be getting a big Hollow Knight Silksong info dump, release date, and maybe even a shadow drop. To make this prediction slightly less boring I'll also say it's a Switch/Switch 2 exclusive for 3 - 6 months.

EA continues to be a useless, extractive company that somehow can't ship a game based on one of the biggest IPs in the world with an all-star development team. Without sports & Respawn they would have withered away a decade ago. But hey stock buybacks & massive executive bonuses' are cool, right?

I had my first proper session of Enshrouded by @keengamesstudio.bsky.social‬ today. The world feels suitably mysterious and scary so far. I'm excited to keep exploring.

Black Mesa is on sale on Steam for $2 right now. It's an incredible way to (re)experience the first Half-Life game. Highly recommended. store.steampowered.com/app/362890/B...

I'm only through mission 2 but I'm already finding the flow in Doom The Dark Ages really easily. Great job so far #idsoftware

I finished Expedition 33. You should definitely play it. It has a lot of the polish & tight story telling of JRPGs in the PS2/360 era (like FF10 & Lost Odyssey) but with the convenience and mechanical depth of a modern game. Also it's 40 hours or less if you don't go full nuts with late game stuff.

This may be anecdotal, but I've noticed YouTube has really expanded their AV1 encoding over the last few months. For years it's been rare outside of hugely popular videos, but now it's maybe 60% of the videos I look at.

The fact that the Switch 2, IN HANDHELD MODE, has a VRR screen that developers KNOW people will have is going to lead to some incredible flexibility. It's basically the end of 30/60 fps tyranny. We'll see a lot of 40fps locks. But there will also be much weirder decisions that are hard to predict.

I really love the idea of a Strix Halo system but the GPU being RDNA 3.5 based thus being locked out of FSR4 for (probably) forever makes it kind of DOA long term.

I feel like one of the inherent weaknesses of sites like this is it's often a parade of people saying, "Hey look at this BS you can do nothing about. Doesn't that suck?" Yes it does. And because I don't believe that knowing is equal to activism, I'm not sure that this is a healthy place to be.

I love my LG B2 in almost all ways, but the VRR Flicker is bad enough I'm considering going back to an LCD.

It's a hilariously boneheaded decision for Nvidia to be offering the large majority of 5090s (the fastest gaming card that exists) through their "verified priority access" program to 4090 owners (the second fastest gaming car that exists). www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/com...

Now is the time to stop playing Pokemon go.

DLSS4 & FSR4 are awesome but can be kind of a mess to apply to older titles. Microsoft, Nvidia, & AMD really need to work together to come up with a proper forward compatibility setup. In the form of perhaps, a DirectX update? Remember those?

This recompile of Sonic Unleashed is an absurdly magical bit of porting trickery. I have so much respect for wizards who pulled this off. In fact the only thing wrong with it is the game lol. How about Lost Odyssey, Asura's Wrath, & Fable 2 next?

Having a graphics card release not go very smoothly is a beautiful tradition adhered to for centuries. However, Nvidia's 50 series release being an absolute circus in 6 different ways is a huge escalation.

Nvidia: The 5080 is better for the same price. Me: Yeah, 10% better with the same anemic 16gb of VRAM. That's the worst 80 series uplift ever. Nvidia: Okay how about a 5090 for $2000. Me: Great! Will you sell me one of those? Nvidia: Sure just buy one of the 5 we made.

Zooey and I just finished a 48 minute ruck through the 30f (but sunny!) Seattle morning. Feels good.

Despite dying a thousand deaths over the last 25 years and facing a lot of pricing headwinds recently; There is now a 4th console. It's the PC. Yeah, I'm just as surprised as you. This is mostly thanks to Valve creating a stable platform that people love & cheap devices to access it anywhere.

It's been eight and a half years since Playdead Games released Inside. They have yet to announce their follow-up.

I really don't understand why I can't set my phone to charge at any particular wattage, to use bypass charge etc whenever I want.
