No democrat should vote for anything in Congress until Musk is fired and all the federal funding he zeroed out on a whim is restored. We simply cannot have a democracy when the Executive's zonked-out Vizier moves fast and breaks things he doesn't understand, which is all things, because he's stupid.

I’ve always wanted to eat at the French Laundry

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

AOC has them sputtering mad because she’s educating people on constitutional rights. You don’t see them freaking out at Jeffries for talking about egg prices.

Big, growing crowd just west of the U.S. Capitol protesting Trump, Musk and DOGE on President’s Day. “Hey Congress, grow a spine,” they shout, gathering for a rally around the reflecting pool.

NYC is out today! Wish you were here!

The Washington Post refused to run this ad. Sure would be a shame if it went viral.

The position I'd like to see House and Senate Democrats take is pretty simple: We refuse to cooperate with Republicans on anything until they stop breaking the law and trashing the Constitution. We want Musk out, DOGE dissolved, and the Trump administration complying with federal court orders.

If you get the opportunity I really recommend hitting any Cybertruck drivers you see with a classic eye-contact thumbs down. So much more bang for your buck than flipping the bird

Adams must be removed. The city cannot sustain being governed for nearly a year by a Mayor who is being coerced by Trump admin in order to escape charges. This corruption poses a real threat to the people of the city. He should have resigned a while ago, but will not. So it’s time for him to go.

a lot of all of this fuckery we're seeing boils down to "i don't want to be forced to acknowledge the existence and humanity of people who are different than me."

Modern-day coups don’t require rifles. They happen when the executive seizes power, dismantles the judiciary, and usurps the legislature—just like what’s happening now.

Hello non-technical people. Just a heads up. Musk isn’t a programmer, a systems architect, or anyone with experience building or running large systems of any kind. However, he’s taken credit for others binding large systems which makes him think he’s That Guy. He is not.

It used to just be the shitty guy who invented a shitty programming language, but now there’s a new bad person with my first name who wrote part of Project 2025.

I am well into my obsolescence

The people who think they are good at everything because they are good at coding are also bad at coding.

"A.I. is going to transform the way we develop software" In what ways? "Well, you need to be precise about your requirements, work in short feedback loops, be always cleaning up the mess it makes, and continuously test everything" I see. Radical changes.

Dear House and Senate Dems, I know you’re stumbling in the dark looking for something to do to stop the madness. May I suggest that now that you’ve tried doing nothing and that didn’t work, that you fight like hell to end this nightmare?

Idgaf I’m still fighting for guaranteed healthcare. Aspiration is the answer. Not just “we’re not the bad guys.” We need something more meaningful than that. I want a future worth fighting for. They have no vision. We do. Lean into our strengths and knock them out. 👊🏽

"You wouldn't let us be racist monopolists so we're overthrowing the country."

One day, recruitment agents and hiring managers will learn that knowledge of tech for a programming job is very rarely a blocker. The language might be important, but it depends on the candidate and their expertise. They’re rejecting excellent candidates all the time for trivia.

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent. Opportunities are everywhere. Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

I am so bitterly disappointed in the state of software engineering right now. I swear if more nerds went to art school instead of cozying up to finance ghouls, we would be surrounded by strange and beautiful software ecosystems instead of [gestures at everything] this mess

Society if Ken Thompson believed in structured data instead of saying “everything is a text stream” and letting programs just spray a firehose of ASCII at a teletype

The USB standard is the Jello salad (derogatory) of protocols. Also, if you told me the cables are directional yet show no outward indication of said directionality, I wouldn’t be surprised

Real talk: the only way to avoid high pressure at deadlines is to practice. My tendency for perfectionism really screwed my life and made my performance around deadlines worse for many years, and my only cure was to learn to prioritize under pressure, and for the pressure to start much sooner.

I know that some people work their whole lives to land that coveted DOJ job, but when the boss tells you to do a fascism, the correct answer is to fucking quit. You can just quit and say “no I won’t do it.”

The folks obsessively posting about egg prices for the past few years have gone strangely quiet just as egg prices hit an all-time high.

After Musk bought Twitter, I decided I’d never buy a new Tesla while he was in charge. I was about to buy one used, but just backed out of that deal.

lol big tech is all like, “we didn’t like democrats criticizing us, we much prefer abjectly humiliating ourselves by publicly kissing the ass of MAGA idiots who make us jump through hoops and dance for them while saying our families are no longer citizens”

Everything about this jingoistic exercise is laced, nay, 💦dripping💦 with fear. These people aren't tinged with righteous enthusiasm about moving policy their way, they're terrified, 🕱petrified🕱 of the present and future that is slipping away from them.

If you do a Nazi salute to own the libs or to troll or to generate discussion or to make a point you are still doing a Nazi salute.

the vinyl revival completely sucks. CDs have better fidelity, are more portable, less wasteful, and significantly cheaper. every time i see an album get some big fancy remaster and that remaster is only available on vinyl and streaming i want to scream. no one is gonna hear the details bud.

Turns out those locked plexiglass cases weren’t anti-shoplifting measures, they were anti-shopping measures. www.axios.com/2024/08/11/r...

Thought I'd see what GPT can do with Ocaml. It is terrible at it. Can do hello world, but can't do a simple example of using CLI args. The gap between what tech leaders are saying and the experience I always have with AI coding is huge. AI is so bad at writing code.

The Social Network (2010)

it genuinely sucks that basically nothing on the internet works well anymore. search? barely works. social media? filled with garbage engagement-bait designed to game the algorithm. news websites? pages that refresh at random or so covered in video ads that it’s impossible to read stories

i think "i've been demonetized" is not a phrase you'd likely run into if you weren't in a dystopia

once again so much of the agita around congestion pricing hinges on the fact that many people seem to believe that "eliminating car trips" is an unfortunate side effect and not the actual point
