If at this point you feel there is nothing you can say or do to convince other people to take this virus seriously, know that by speaking of it, know that by taking precautions, you are reminding others the virus is still here as are those fighting it, and that is not nothing.

i would make the witching hour 8pm if i was in charge of the dark arts

every gender transition is a statement in favor of human possibility and freedom and i’m tired of hearing it talked about like it’s some kind of disease

After living in Cook County for 15 years, I was called for jury duty *on May Day* which I know is supposedly coincidental but definitely felt very intentional on the part of the State’s Attorney. 🙃

Hung out on a deck eating snacks then bird watched by the river, thank you delightfully sunny Sunday ☀️

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that amidst the erasure of Long COVID there’s a flooding of ads from hims, providing mail order ED & hair loss meds. ED symptoms can be an early sign of vascular, circulatory, or autonomic dysfunction yet it’s so stigmatized ppl won’t admit they experience it.

Tomorrow is Independent Bookstore Day, please buy me an Independent Bookstore!! Thank you!!

Happy April 25th, Light Jacket Gang

#OtD 21 Apr 1980 striking miners in Sabuk, South Korea, seized weapons and dynamite and took control of the town while demanding a 40% pay increase. They won after 3 days, but the dictatorship later reneged on its promise not to victimise participants stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/9340...

People’s rights to be treated as whole humans, with dignity and care and comfort and respect should not be dependent on their ability to work, produce, or align with the ableist demands of society. This is what the vision of Disability Justice offers us.

I like how we've all decided this JD Vance fault. Gang gang.

and in his last public facing message called again for a ceasefire

double pneumonia couldnt kill Pope Francis but spending 10 min with Vance was enough for him to give up

huge day for guy who has only seen one movie and it's conclave

this is not new. this is not okay. this is getting exponentially worse. this has always been bad. DHS / ICE / CPB aren’t broken systems; they’re operating as intended, with a widening scope of violence. the best time to oppose them was anytime in the past 24 years. the second best time is now.

Some good news, since we could surely use it: I just learned that a former (!!) inside pen pal through UU Prison Ministry of Illinois is now free, after his sentence was commuted and he was granted parole. Every person freed from the confines of prison is a victory towards abolition.

The UK simply does not get enough attention and hate for its roles in both spreading rampant global transphobia and ethnically cleansing Palestine.

There’s a direct line from so-called “liberal” media (CST is now owned by the local NPR affiliate) irresponsibly equating pro-Palestinian & anti-Zionist words with antisemitism and the current government’s arrests & kidnappings of pro-Palestinian student organizers.

I can't emphasize enough that the most important thing journalists can do right now is publish exactly this kind of article

Might not be a bad day to donate to this

trans & intersex rights are human rights, trans women are women, trans men are men, TERFs & the ways they’ve made their insecurities everyone’s problem is horrifying, and JKR should’ve learned a long time ago to simply follow the Suzanne Collins Write Books Get Rich Stay Quiet plan of action

JKR funded the campaign group behind all this btw. This is why we beg you to stop engaging with Harry Potter media.

Even the Financial Times admits that Trump is building a police state. This should give everyone a new perspective on the oh-so-controversial movement to abolish the police. That movement was our best hope of countering the forces via which autocrats like Trump will impose fascism. It still is.

I'm truly not interested in a political project that "restores" the US. I only care about one that completely transforms it.

A reminder on this #TaxDay that the rapid expansion of the charity sector into the nonprofit industrial complex is directly related to both the govt’s efforts to impose income taxes on the people and some of those people’s increasingly institutionalized refusal to pay them.

That there are so few mechanisms for existing systems to remove electeds from power should tell us how much permission to enact state violence is deeply embedded in the laws and history of the US. Harm that is so deeply rooted needs solutions that are as committed to locating & removing the source.

I know you aren't going to want to hear this but the reason the system can deport Mahmoud Khalil and send Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador is that for years we've been executing factually innocent people like Marcellus Williams and sending legally innocent people to places like Riker's Island.

If you are in line for forest, STAY IN LINE.

if we're defining a constitutional crisis as a breakdown in the rule of law or the erosion of constitutional protections, then we’ve been in one for a long time (see: US prisons.) what we’re seeing now is just that breakdown becoming more visible to people who were never directly targeted before

anyone who is acting like the US and el salvadore simply accidently deported the wrong people and can’t find them is lying because they don’t want to admit they rather like that fascistic deporting of political enemies into death camps is essentially legal now

Fight for your moral center.

go outside. fall in love. demand a joyful life. you are still alive.
