You touch me he dies. If you’re not in the air in thirty seconds, he dies. You come back in, he dies.

Off to Llareggub later today. Has anyone been?

That might be the worst sentence ever written in the English language. Thanks BBC.

Magical.

Denis Villeneuve is rightly famous for his science fiction films, Arrival, Bladerunner 2049 and Dune, but his earlier films are just as impressive.

Some of these foreign reviews on Amazon are so confusing.

Probably the most magical film I've ever seen.

Dematerialise. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWJD...

Both made in the same year. Insane.

This radio station was named Kowalski, in honour of the last American hero to whom speed means freedom of the soul. Other Vanishing Points are available.

Monday sorted.

Golden Beryl on the BBC again tonight. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p...

My followers will know I am a HUGE Dua Lipa fan and have subscribed to Dua Lipa magazine for nearly two decades. So imagine my surprise when this month's edition of Dua Lipa magazine arrived on my doorstep and I found there wasn't a single reference to Dua Lipa in its pages. VERY disappointing.

Bowie noted how director Nagisa Ōshima would give an incredible amount of direction to his Japanese actors, but when directing him or Tom Conti, he would say "Please do whatever it is you people do."

Who'd have thought something called Titanium Dioxide could possibly be bad for us? Doesn't it grow in the ground like carrots?

Remembering Chantal Akerman on what would have been her seventy-fifth birthday. Akerman directed Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles, voted the greatest film of all time in Sight & Sound magazine's 2022 poll, narrowly defeating Condorman. I requested a recount but it was denied.

Let joy be unconfined.

How did she ever take a lesson outside his head? www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJg8...

How it started, how it's going.

Watched this last night for the first time in years and wondered, as Kieślowski was Polish, if there are any of those extraordinary film posters for it. There are.

The fly-tipping round here is insane. People are literally dumping everything but the kitchen... oh.

Dir: Georges Franju 1960

Look how delighted this beautiful woman is to be using the DPD delivery app. She's having the time of her life! I don't doubt for a moment that her happiness is reflective of the general experience of the DPD delivery app but of course it's nice to see it captured on her beautiful face.

The film opened at Oxford Street's Cinephone cinema and had a disturbing reaction. Many audience members claimed the film made them ill, others demanded their money back, while some just stumbled out of the cinema ranting "it's disgusting". archive.org/details/1963...

Saw this indescribable relic of 80s independent cinema at The Garden Cinema last night. A seven-year obsession from Baltimore resident and filmmaker John Huckert, it's unlike anything I've ever seen. Thanks to Video Bazaar for arranging the screening.

Whenever I see one of these in a charity shop, I just have to buy it. This one was 75p in North London Hospice. Top Three 1. Your Code Name is Jonah 2. Who Killed Harlowe Thrombey 3. The Horror of High Ridge

Rewatched On the Waterfront last night and was astonished to learn this morning that Eva Marie Saint is still alive! 100 years old and still going strong.

Just in case there's any lingering doubt as to its status as an asset of extraordinary community value, @princecharlescinema.com programmed Blow Up and Blow Out today. Beautiful. #SaveThePCC

If you've ever seen an Italian poliziotteschi film from the 1970s, you'll know that at some point, someone, somewhere is going to drink some J&B. Well I've just watched this one and been introduced to 100 Pipers, a bottle of which is in the background of practically every scene.

It wasn't until today that I learnt Alejandro Jodorowsky funded his 1970 acid Western El Topo by accepting a role in Disney's The Black Hole.

Peak Amazon.

Coiled tie in a tube? £4

It's a lovely day here so I thought I'd go to the prak and maybe have a clod drikn.

Further evidence, if it were ever needed, that Philip Seymour Hoffman was one of the great actors of the modern era, and that nobody embodied crumpled charm better than him.

Just a quick word about Alejandro Jodorowsky's planned film of Dune - designed by Moebius and Giger with music by Pink Floyd and starring Salvador Dali and Orson Welles. Obviously nothing this incredible could ever actually have been made because it would have caused the immediate end of cinema.

Nice to welcome this old friend back last night for Goal of the Season. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrPw...
