Around the time I hit 40, I thought of more and more things that I wish I had known earlier. Some are big things to take stock of along the way, some are little life hacks. Some are just things that helped me. I’m sharing them as I think of them. 🌞🏃🥗🌈🏡🍎

So much negativity right now. Treat yourself to something positive if you can to maintain your sanity. #positivity #flowers #selfcare

Are you disappointed about that job you didn’t get? Are you frustrated with that friend that doesn’t find the time to hang out with you like they used to? Just wait. Sometime soon and you will look back and realize that what seemed like a disappointment turned out to be a very good thing for you.

When you are worried about something, remember that the worst case scenario seldom happens. And then work backwards to think what is a more probable scenario. That can help with life’s difficulties. This came from the Dale Carnegie course and has helped me quite a bit. #dalecarnegie #worries

One thing I know for sure is no one chooses a more difficult path in life. You may not understand someone else’s life challenges and journey, but you can simply choose to wish them well and not add to their struggles. #empathy #kindness #journey #bestlife

Ego. How many times in our lives do we make decisions based on status or what we think other people might think of us? We reject jobs/careers might really enjoy. We date certain people while not even seeing others. Check that ego or at least realize when it is showing itself. #ego #lifechoices

If you are feeling stuck or have a lull in your life, and want to regain your mojo, try one of these two things. Service to others or something creative. Volunteer, help kids, help seniors, foster pets. Or try a Pottery class, art class, write that book. It will put your head in a different space.

Be sure to complement work associates, whether they are colleagues or direct reports, when appropriate. It will go a long way toward building work, relationships. Senior leadership will see it as professional maturity, self-confidence, and leadership potential. Be sure it is sincere. #work #leader

There are no small lives. Everyone contributes, sometimes in unknown ways. You never know what type of ripple affect your work, good deed or kind word might have. Just live your best life and avoid judging or comparing. #bestlife #happy #purpose

Feeling stuck? What has worked for me is to take out a notebook and start brainstorming. Jot down anything that comes to mind. Put it into buckets. What you might like to do, what you would need to do to prepare for that, etc. Sleep on it and come back to it. A plan will take shape. #goals #purpose

Ego. Think how often this nemesis gets in the way. Sometimes it prompts us not to take the job we really want or to not socialize with someone we would like to. Or our ego gets hurt when someone says something or omits us from a conversation or gathering. Check that pesky ego! #ego #selfesteem

So many health/diet influencers online! Many seem to have no credentials. I am not a physician or dietitian. But what has worked for me is a Whole Foods/reduced sugar regimen. Proteins source + green vegetable + non-green (sweet potatoes, carrots, fruit) Greek yogurt for a snack later. #diet

If you are invited to a holiday gathering, be a good guest. -Arrive close to on time. -Communicate with the host if you plan to bring something. -Be helpful with little tasks, such as directing people where to put their coats. -Follow the host requests if they ask you not to feed the dog, etc.

Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Consider more doable micro goals instead of large, lofty resolutions. For example, a large glass of water and a green vegetable with every meal instead of “ I’m going to lose 60 pounds.” Up your game once these things become habits. #goals #resolutions #diet

Remember that anytime you are starting some type of new endeavor or taking on a challenge, you is always going to have a negative voice (or two) around you that tells you you cannot do it or tries to plant seeds of doubt. Craft your plan and proceed anyway. It’ll be worth it.

Ask questions at parties. If you’re invited somewhere and are a little bit nervous about going and about the conversation, remember that people love to talk about themselves. Ask open ended questions. Have them tell you about a hobby or what they enjoy about their job. You’ll win new friends.

Just start. If you are given a large task, that seems a bit overwhelming, find a good entry point and just start. It doesn’t have to be perfect. You can optimize along the way. Improve as you learn.

I left X to flip Elon the bird and hopefully find like-minded ppl here. I decided to try something new on BS. About 15 years ago, I kept running into things that I thought “it would’ve been nice to know this earlier in life. It wouldn’t make life better.” So am sharing them as they come to mind.
