Just wrapped up the last bit of my #godot wild jam submission, Clef's Quest. I decided to go in on the "A Capella" wildcard and made recording the player a mechanic. The submissions don't become public until tomorrow evening, but you can check it out here: gorp900.itch.io/clefs-quest

My interview with ANTIREAL, the indie artist from Scotland who discovered and later Bungie admitted the "unauthorized use" of her art in Marathon. She felt unease during the announcement in 2023, but the alpha release confirmed her suspicion. www.washingtonpost.com/entertainmen...

Currently Working on my submission to #godot wild jam 81 and here is my world so far for the theme of "Expedition". I've got what I hope to be a fun little twist for the main mechanic based on one of the wildcards already implemented too. Very much inspired a bit by Paper Mario. #gamedev #gamejam

Fun thread of some cool old school video game covers.

What is the lifespan of software? What if you make software that's silly and full of whimsy? Will people remember it? Anyway, here's a video someone recently posted of “Good Luck, Babe!” by Chappell Roan performed through the composer feature in Mario Paint, a game released on Super Nintendo in 1992

So now Polygon has been bought out by a bigger media company, which naturally meant that the first order of business is mass layoffs. This industry, man.

Been spending some time wrangling with Blender, learning animations and what the workflow is like for exporting such things to Godot since at some point I'd like to make some 3D Character action style game. Animations are hard.

Square Enix have started selling a life size Vivi hat and while I don't need it, I do kinda need it.

Was in London today and took part of the protest for trans rights. Massive turnout. Heres hoping somone in power see's how many more of us there are compared to GC's and TERFS.

I get a lot of people are rightfully upset over Nintendo charging $80 for their new games, but let's be real, this isn't a surprise. There's plenty of games on PS5 and XBox going for the same amount. I want cheaper games as much as anyone, sure, but it's not a problem unique to Nintendo.

Also I'm Stoked for the new DK game. While I'd love a classic co-op style 2D DK, I'm 100% on board for a new 3D Open collectathon DK game

I dont care what anyone says, The Duskbloods is basically Bloodborne 2, lets gooooooo!

the jen taylor halo 2 outtakes are so good i couldnt /not/ animate them!!

Hoping for a proper FFIX Remake annoucement of some kind. Other stuff on the Squeenix website is pretty cool though. A collaboration with a glasses company, a vinyl of the music with a new version of Melodies Of Life, and a fricken book about Vivi!? That's a lot of cool collabs.

The final Benefactor is Tialeso, The Mermaid Marchioness. Like many underwater dwellers, she is fascinated with the world above. She has a particular interest in collecting fine clothes, and fine people. She only sets up shops on the docks so she can watch people from afar. #indiedev #gamedev

Our penultimate benefactor is Polma, the Witch Queen. She is able to see the future and manipulate peoples fates. No ordinary person can afford her services, leaving them exclusively available to only the rich and powerful. Now her shop is selling "simple remedies" to commoners. #indiedev #gamedev

Pretty excited for the new Tomodachi Life, new Rythm Heaven, and while minor, the way Nintendo are going to implement their "virtual game carts" a lot like how the steam family stuff works is a great change.

The next benefactor in our line up is "Ironclad" Grelman, one of the most wanted men in the country, able to fight off dozens of armed men at a time. He no longer pillages villages any more, instead he found it more lucrative to trade arms to those same impoverished people. #indiedev #gamedev

Nobody knows much about Aphelion. They communicate via telepathy and tend to obscure their body when in person. Rumour has it that they struck upon an incredible archaeological find and found a trove of ancient artefacts that they chose to sell off for wealth and power. #indiedev #gamedev

Next on the list of mysterious benefactors is Launir. He is a talented artist and will often explain his fortune is because wealthy individuals are immediately captivated when they lay eyes on his work. He claims this shop is a way to further spread beautiful works of art. #indiedev #gamedev

Lilith used to be a bandit leader until the government caught up to her. Instead of executing her, they put her to work You're pretty sure her magic shop is just a way to avoid tax. Her method of dealing with the competition is certainly unique. Diplomatic Immunity, am I right? #indiedev #gamedev

Charm & Chance is now released, and free to play in your browser! It's a laid back kinda game where you place dice to stock your magic shops inventory. Complete orders to earn gold or obey your benefactors whims to upgrade your shop. Play it here: gorp900.itch.io/charm-and-ch... #indiedev #gamedev

In Charm & Chance, your dice are used to stock different items and magical effects. These dice represent materials, labour and arcane knowledge. Make sure to plan how you place them, as you'll only be able to place 2 dice per round before your mysterious benefactor has to help. #indiedev #gamedev

Avon made a killing fighting in tournaments across the country and became reknowned as "The Blade Baron of Goldcrest". Nowadays, they are an avid collector of weaponry from across the world, and have dabbled into blacksmithing themselves, opening a store to sell magic swords. #indiedev #gamedev

Zaos is an old retired coot of a wizard. He spent his youth as an adventurer and made plenty of money to now fund magic academies and shops. He has a bit of a reputation as a pyromancer and believes a fireball is a perfectly good solution to every problem. #indiedev #gamedev

In a few days my newest game will be complete and ready for everyone to enjoy, for free! Charm & Chance is a short dice game about running a magical item shop. Place dice to stock inventory and fulfil customer orders, or create items for your mysterious benefactor to upgrade your shop.

I still struggle a lot with actually drawing art for my games, especially art of characters, but some of the recent pieces I've put together I'm really happy with. Truth be told though I'm pretty much just posing characters in other programs, taking screenshots and tracing over them, adding details.

Today I've been adding Dyslexic font options to my most recent game. It felt important to me to make as much of it readable as possible. But boy something as simple as this has made me notice how much effort needs to go into accessibility options and how they can impact a lot, like misalignment.

Just finished off making a tutorial for my next game, a lot of the pieces are finally together but I'm now in that final stretch of going over all the little graphical details and improving how things look and feel. I always find this part takes way longer than I plan.
