SCOTUS says “Just as the founders intended” as the lich of James Madison runs head-first into a wood-chipper.

Big, bad legal news from "the shadow docket." 6-3 overturning the stay in Wilcox, the NLRB case. Less than 2 pages of assertions that have been proven historically incorrect. A preview of expanding presidential power and allowing the Trump removals: www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

The absolute disgrace taking place today in front of cameras in the White House is yet another reminder that for all the talk of Joe Biden's failures, the people who failed America the most are our citizens. Empowering this guy (again) was a foreseeable disaster we'll be lucky to survive.

the Vichy New York Times is constitutionally incapable of writing about an ongoing coup with anything other than the tones of a person worried about their neighbor's taste in house paint.

We should be grateful to the Lord to now be blessed with having an American on the world stage who embodies good and not evil.

Love the lil flex when they realise they just became the most famous bird in the world.

once again my full throated support and endorsement for any democrat who pursues criminal legal accountability for the DOGE boys. and i’d be fine with shipping these guys to the Hague

MERKLEY: Are you gonna launch an investigation of the reported violation of the due process of several hundred people? P: It is not for me to call the balls & strikes M: You haven't read the Constitution? It says 'all persons'...it concerns me you're not familiar w/the core concept of due process

This is absolutely outrageous and has already been confirmed by a federal judge to violate a previous order that he issued. Sitting back and saying "phew, we stopped that" isn't nearly enough. We need an immediate and aggressive investigation into the what the hell is going on and on whose orders.

The Trump Administration lies about the law, and it lies about the facts. The administration lies about EVERYTHING.

I smell AI

Wow crazy you guys must be giving her a big raise, right?

Even *if* you accept Stephen Miller’s (textually, historically, and morally indefensible) claim that undocumented immigrants are not entitled to due process, you’d *still* need due process to ensure that the individuals at issue are, in fact, undocumented. His argument fails even on its own terms.

This was a masterclass from Carney. Allowing Trump to set out his incoherent arguments, giving him all the rope he needed to hang himself. Then Carney took his moment & calmly dismantled him in his own office. Trump has rarely looked so small. #ElbowsUp 🇨🇦 (🎥 The White House)

this is legitimately evil

Chief Justice Roberts absurdly declared he “overturned” Korematsu while authoring Korematsu II (validating the Muslim Ban, Trump v Hawaii) Now we have a new Japanese internment - expanded to any nationality, internment in offshore gulags. Now let’s see Roberts put his money where his mouth is.

This is far from accidental. Given Trump’s forced removal of Commissioner Weintraub, his contempt for campaign finance laws, and his refusal to nominate replacements, this is a calculated move to enable even more corruption and eliminate all accountability.

this is obviously quite minor but the more i hear rfk jr. talk about anything the more bewildered i am by the entire nuzzi thing

I’m going to continue reminding folks that this is the kind of thing that warrants impeachment. (Not for nothing but Republicans impeached Mayorkas for just existing)

"Belichick's cleanup effort was positively Trumpian, particularly his complaint about CBS's editing." -- @brianstelter.bsky.social UNC, you're paid $10 million a year for this? view.newsletters.cnn.com/messages/174...

Well, that was fast www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

ICE agents are lawless, sociopathic shitbirds. Treat every one you encounter accordingly.

Do the MSM reflexively convert all issues into *the politics* of the issue? Hmmm, let's see. (Lead story in WaPo right now.)

Bukele “is engaging in a conspiracy with [Trump] to subvert the rule of law in America,” writes @tommalinowski.bsky.social. Democrats should propose "the most crushing possible sanctions, including asset freezes on Bukele and every member of his government," if he "doesn’t return... Abrego Garcia."

“Contrary to U.S. law and long-established Constitutional rights…”. I know it gets boring to say every time, but that really belongs in the headline for claims like this.

I feel like we need to keep saying this because it’s so insane: This is a legal U.S. resident who has been detained for over a month now for his political opinions.

Again, no. The Framers anticipated & feared tyranny in all its forms. What they did not anticipate was that Congress would be full of cowards who cared so little about their own power that they would let a runaway Mad King steal it without even lifting a finger to stop him. bsky.app/profile/mcop...

Today’s unconstitutional executive order aim to tie accreditation to hiring right wing professors. Sorry guys, you don’t get to go around saying shit like “the professors are the enemy” and “we need to tear down higher education entirely” and then act surprised the professors don’t like you.

JD Vance has that effect on the people he meets. And on American democracy.

It’s about effing time you all woke up. Now do more than introduce PR bills. Go there. Bring press. Live stream it.

The Trump admin has just detained Mohsen Mahdawi, who: –has green card –was Columbia Buddhist club president –saw his best friend shot & killed by Israeli soldier –said "we are against antisemitism because antisemitism is a form of injustice, and injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere"

In case you haven't been paying attention for the past two decades and some, Erik Prince is a threat to liberal democracy and human rights on a global scale.

Don't let up. Don't look away. This is a crisis. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/04...

The fear among academics and lawyers now talking on the record on just about any topic that involves the federal government or the White House is really extraordinary and worrisome, and getting worse, it seems to me, every week. Dissent by an establishment figures becoming verboten in the US

Malice tempered by incompetence.

The President’s unprecedented Executive Order yesterday targeting Messrs. Chris Krebs and Miles Taylor for nothing but the exercise of their First Amendment rights is the President’s most constitutionally corrupt Executive Order to date.

Our response to the words used by every domestic abuser? 800% tariff effective immediately.

It’s a month since the administration detained and disappeared a green card holder, a lawful permanent resident. We cannot allow this to be normalized or forgotten.

Is there an anti-coup principle in American constitutionalism? Should state prosecutors have the power to try presidential autocoup conspirators? In my now finalized Wisconsin Law Review article, "Coups and Punishment in the Constitutional Order," I argue yes. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....
