i don’t have a lot of faith in our elected officials rn but this is an unequivocally brave and correct thing to do

Uh, yeah

no criminal record no gang ties no tattoos active pending asylum case **19 years old** sent by trump to prison (forever?) in el salvador www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Things are going to get really bad as Trump starts throwing political enemies in jail.

Don't go, Jason Waterfalls

The last time US Senators flew to central/south America to investigate their constituents being held hostage, things went poorly. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a repeat of Guyana.

It’s because probably half or slightly more than half of self-described libertarians were just fascists who wanted to be invited to the right parties, and now the fascists are the ones throwing the parties

Just so we’re clear, everybody calling Kilmar Abrego Garcia a “terrorist” or a “gang member” are lying, and they know they’re lying, and they repeat it for purposes of confusing people who don’t follow this stuff closely into accepting what was done to him.

What everyone seems to be letting the Trump propaganda machine get away with is that it DOES. NOT. MATTER if he was a nice guy or not. The point is he was legally allowed to be here, was grabbed by mistake and deported sans due process as part of a vast illegal rendition scheme. That’s what matters.

This administration sent 200+ fathers, sons, and husbands to be tortured in a foreign prison for the rest of their lives. 9 in 10 have no criminal record. None received any due process. If you *aren’t* outraged, you need to check your fucking humanity.

Oh dear you’re going to want to read this. Looks like DOGErs were caught exfiltrating NLRB data, likely on unions, for private (seemingly Elony) use. This is must read. What we’ve all suspected. But now details. www.npr.org/2025/04/15/n...

"Human trafficking" now? That's a new one. The longer they leave Kílmar Ábrego García to rot in the CECOT, the longer his fake rap sheet gets. He has one arrest, for loitering. But within a week or two they'll be saying he's the Zodiac Killer.

This is how every member of Congress should be acting right now. Bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia back.

"the president defied a Supreme Court ruling to return a man mistakenly sent to a gulag... and spoke of sending Americans to foreign concentration camps. This is the beginning of an American policy of state terror, and it has to be identified as such to be stopped" snyder.substack.com/p/state-terror

Reminders: "Concentration camps" aren't the same as "extermination camps." Both were/are horrific. Most Nazi camps were *outside Germany*, away from the eyes of German citizens. Those trains? Were to, uh, deport the category of people whose lives were deemed unimportant. Never again is now.

We are now at the point where the AP can write this as if its a simple background fact and it sparks no outrage: "Trump has made no secret of his plans to use the power of the federal government to target domestic political adversaries."

Now is for the moment for another New Deal, but one that includes constitutional reforms. Dems should commit to proportional representation so we can a multi-party system that can win back voters' trust.

This is a blatant scam and I am furious about it.

They like Republicans and want to help them rule over us

Politics hasn't been this simple in a long time: do you think it's good for one man to exercise unchecked, arbitrary power or not. Those are the two available ideologies right now

I will say this - EVERYONE with power seems to be desperately hoping that unpopularity does the work that consequences need to do

At the Amtrak Canada-U.S. border and I'm pretty sure that everyone in my train car, hell everyone on this train is STRESSED. CBP Officers are asking all kinds of questions, especially addresses of where people are staying. Shit is SURREAL and the opposite vibe of entering Canada. #TravelWithZ

The U.S. is no longer subject to the rule of law, and Americans are discovering that living in countries that aren’t subject to the rule of law is *terrifying*.

It's only April

Q: What distinguishes a prison from a concentration camp?

bloomberg: ~90% of deported migrants to el salvador had no criminal record

it causes me such pain to see snooty liberals respond to a story about a horrific, incurable, fatal occupational disease like black lung with “but how did they vote????” as if that fucking matters

Here are all 36 jerseys from this season. Let me know if you have any favorites. Thanks for following along #RipCity

In less than 3 months, the Trump regime: - Centralized all the government’s information on you - Claims the right to deport legal residents—including citizens—without due process - Has kidnapped and jailed people for their expressed beliefs - Forced opposition lawyers to “bend the knee”

Let it be known: if the Government picks any of you up off the street, and dumps you in El Salvador, they will not bring you back. Constitutional rights of a U.S. citizen, you say? Pfft, this Government ignores the Supreme Court already.

Legal permanent resident of the U.S., showing up to apply for citizenship, with no allegations of criminal activity, is arrested and detained by masked police. This is fascism, and that is not a word I use lightly. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/14/n...

It’s Jim Crow

The Trump-Bukele meeting joins the Trump-Zelensky meeting and the Trump-Putin meeting in Helsinki as signature Trumpian disasters in bilateral “diplomacy.”

It is essential for the rule of law that everyone involved in this end up in prison. Nothing else is a sufficient deterrent against the intentional, repeated abuse of government power to systematically deny fundamental rights.

They have yet to provide any evidence Garcia got so much as a parking ticket during his years in the U.S. and an immigration judge granted him protection from deportation on asylum grounds in 2019. His removal was illegal and every member of the Trump regime should face justice for this crime.

This is the day that President Donald Trump sent a clear message to the nation: There is no rule of law in the United States.

This is right. But also, a key conceit of deportation allowing govt to skip normal criminal law process rules is that deportation is “non-punitive”. If you’re being sent to a foreign gulag to be held forever, that’s absolutely a criminal penalty and it should trigger full due process protections.

He’s threatening media companies who are critical of him. He’s talking about sending Americans to foreign prisons. He’s signing executive orders to investigate former staff members who spoke out against him. He’s defying the Supreme Court. Don’t you see what’s happening here?

Governors need to be having dead serious conversations with their AGs, state law enforcement, and adjutants general about what happens when this spirals into literal armed confrontations with the federal government, and when and how they choose to make that stand. Because that’s where we’re going.

Foreign Friends with Travel Plans to the U.S. for Conventions: A bit back I said you should maybe reconsider those plans. I would like to amend my prior statement. Cancel them. Cancel them now. We cannot keep you safe from our own government. Take your holiday in Spain or something.
