NO Racists in Torrance! (#TeslaTakedown) Meet at the corner of Hawthorne & Sepulveda in Torrance, April 19th at 4pm to say protest Tesla (located at Del Amo Mall) and to send a message that hate is NOT welcome in the South Bay. zurl.co/RQIiN

Holy shit. @calmatters.org looked at all records of people who’ve killed peoples behind the wheel — and found a horrifying CA DMV scandal. @gavinnewsom.bsky.social needs to call for an investigation. calmatters.org/investigatio...

like clockwork once again andy byford achieved something amazing and paradigm-changing with almost no resources and was immediately undermined by the most dumbass politicians in history

Finally becoming an airbrush guy. In my spritz era. Who's got those good tips and guides for noobs

It has been strange to see my and Abe's work on weaponized interdependence taken up by policy makers as an instruction manual, when it was explicitly written as a warning of how badly things were likely to go wrong. direct.mit.edu/isec/article...

Oh that WAS an earthquake

As a Leftist, I’m not against all foreign interventions. For example I think we should invade El Salvador and hang this guy

*Hanania?* If you think something needs to be fixed and your fix for it is "we should hear more from the neo-Nazi eugenics guy" you should maybe come up with a better fix.

Incredible scenes, honestly

The sheer speed at which RED HORSE restored North Field on Tinian suggests that if we greatly expand the 88U MOS we could get nationwide high speed rail in like five years www.armytimes.com/news/your-ar...

“The reporter from MyPillow asked the White House press secretary why the president looks so healthy and robust” is a true sentence that exists in our current reality.

Well it turns out the pugs absolutely cannot stand Penderecki's Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima, perhaps unsurprisingly

we are at the openly telling people they need to carry their papers phase of the descent into fascist.

Went to dinner in Hermosa tonight and boy when did it become Gen X City? Is there a class of tech chuds with a name for it like "The Gundo" yet

WSJ now outflanked the NYT editor class

Whoever wrote this title at the Irish Times reporting on blood donation must have rubbed his hands together in mischievous glee. www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland...

This is a very good point that I haven't seen made yet. It's not just Trump that is undermining trust in the US. It is also the inability of US institutions to stop him. And even if you make that "inability to stop him so far," it's already too far to maintain trust.

If only there were some sort of "deal" that could have been worked out to everyone's benefit

Derek is doing better trade and supply chain analysis than most people in DC

"Abundance" by @ezraklein.bsky.social and @derekthompson.bsky.social is an encouraging book, but it's written to suburban people in suburban language, as this passage reveals. Perhaps that's necessary in a suburban nation, but this passage will grate for a lot of big-city people. 1/

But I *do* want to buy an inexpensive Chinese EV and I *don't* want the fascists to continue consolidating power

I am again calling for the next generation of leadership to be steely-eyed puritans who hate corruption in every form.

I'm as big a USA booster as you'll find. But why would people from anyplace else *risk* coming to the US right now? What if Customs/Border people at the airport find something about you they don't like? Good luck to US travel/tourism industry h/t @beijingpalmer.bsky.social @swiftonsecurity.com

Every city should aspire to Tokyo's density and quality and it's an indictment of the western imagination that none of them do

It's a yard, or something, and it's got a sort of fence of an indeterminate height, but the fence has a lot of holes, and is falling down in places,

Every city should aspire to Tokyo's density and quality and it's an indictment of the western imagination that none of them do

Honestly a great article to be written on media lingo and outlook that's somehow stuck in 1991: a land of bobbies and boffins, where 'flat screen TVs' are a luxury and vegetarianism is a niche hippy thing

joe kent at NCTC lmfao 🙃🫠

it's so funny that they're doing honest to God right-Maoism though. like it's going to destroy the country but it is incredibly funny to invent The Great Leap Forward from first principles as a braindead American fascist movement led by the very personification of crass consumerism

All this tells me is that Gen X should be put through Logan’s Run

On the other hand, from Isaacman's prepared statement for his confirmation hearing: "As the President stated we will prioritize sending American astronauts to Mars. Along the way, we will inevitably have the capabilities to return to the Moon"

Every time I look at the line the last few days all I can think is “we slidin”

the other day @adamtooze.bsky.social laid out a nightmare scenario. We're edging closer to it. Very much recommend reading his post: adamtooze.substack.com/p/chartbook-...
