There was a very classic feel to the weekend’s gaming. A couple of gateway #boardgame gems got dusted off. Great stuff. boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

The time of year when I rank my #boardgames and update my top 40 is fast approaching. So there is just time to reflect on what utter nonsense it is at times and how, despite that, I absolutely love it! boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

Been far too long since I played the solo #boardgame ROVE. I forgot how fun it is, especially with a hard fought victory. The story built up by the mission cards is always a delight.

What’s this? Not a #boardgame but a solo #RPG?? 😱 #KORG turned up this week, a tiny d6 driven dungeon quest adventure. Turns out it’s perfect for a 10 minute quest during a lunch break 😊 boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

Some cozy solo #boardgames occupied my table last night. The excellent Orchard and equally fabulous Harmonies. Just what was required! 😊 boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

It’s becoming more difficult for me to content playing good #boardgames, when I know some great ones are on my shelf that I could be playing instead. I’m becoming a bit more selective about what stays in the collection as a result. boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

A side of country park with the #boardgames in today’s blog. Calderglen Country Park near Glasgow was well worth the visit. Turns out a hotel bed is ideal for some Skulls of Sedlec! boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

I first backed a #boardgame project on crowd funding around 2 years ago. The excellent The Royal Limited from @scottalmes.bsky.social and @buttonshy.bsky.social Today’s blog is a crowdfunding retrospective and my views moving forward. boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

It didn’t quite make it for #openingday, but 7th Inning Stretch has finally arrived! As a solo #boardgame playing #mlb fan, I needed this in my life! 😍

It’s #boardgame review time for the blog and on this occasion I take a look at People Power from @gmtgames.bsky.social. I was a COIN newbie going into this one; here’s how I got on… boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

Fun times helping with play testing, playing Tiny Epic Cthulhu and coming home with Great Western Trail El Paso from @lookoutgames.bsky.social. A great day of #boardgames boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

GWT El Paso #boardgame One of the releases I’ve been most looking forward to this year! Fingers crossed it’s worth the hype my brain is giving it! 😍

I saw the Minecraft Movie yesterday with the youngsters. Whereas that is time I’m not getting back, it did get me thinking about #boardgames in which you get to create something… there are plenty of good ‘uns! boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

My first shelf-of-opportunity, #boardgames I’ve culled (including one most wouldn’t I’m sure) and more besides. It must be blog time… boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

First play with #Bloodlines, Dune Imperium Uprising #boardgame has apparently taken up permanent residence on my table. It will still be there tomorrow… the upgrade set is due in the post! 😄

Football in the sunshine, seeing friends and #boardgames… it must be the start of the Easter Holidays! boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

I couldn’t sleep last night so did what any normal human being would. Put the baseball on and sleeved some #boardgame cards at 04:00. And yes, #Bloodlines was available at my FLGS when I popped in for sleeves, so naturally it came home with me!

My first full solo game of Dune Imperium: Uprising was incredible. I am actually blown away by how much I’m enjoying this #boardgame. Can’t wait to play again… and maybe actually get some worms out this time! 😄 boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

Early forays into the world of politics, intrigue and spice were carried out on Wednesday night. Long may they continue! #DuneImperium #boardgame boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

One of the biggest #boardgames I’ve been yet to dive in to for one reason or another, is on its way! Dune Imperium Uprising will be with me shortly and just in time for 2 weeks off work. Plenty of time to get the spice flowing. boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

I’ve been looking forward to this being released by @atikingames.bsky.social Easy choice to back - it had me at ‘evil flowers’ and frankly awesome cover art. www.kickstarter.com/projects/ati...

Harmonies and Heat - quite the #boardgame paring to discuss in today’s blog. The former was as harmonious as could be hoped for. The latter… let’s just say I’m not expecting the call from McLaren anytime soon… boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

Culling #boardgames and early thoughts on Stilicho Last of the Romans… doing the former allows me time and space to form the latter. boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

First play of Stilicho, last of the Romans this afternoon. Had a great time learning this solo #boardgame but, boy was it tough! I didn’t last past turn 3. Much the same as historical Stilicho apparently. I look forward to trying again 😊

In my latest attempt to botch even the most basic of #boardgame rules, #BeaconPatrol from @pandasaurusgames.com got a couple of enjoyable-but-flawed-thanks-to-my-incompetence plays last night. Honestly, I used to pride myself on reading instructions… boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

It’s #boardgame review time in the blog and one of the best small area control games out there is under the review microscope. Forget Hastings, check out why The War of The 3 Sanchos is the 1066 conflict that you should be playing. boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

Golden Geek Nominations are up I’ve submitted mine. Easy choice to put forward @boardgamehottakes.bsky.social @adambght.bsky.social @2muchenthusiasm.bsky.social for best podcast. My favourite podcast bar none. Oh I nominated some #boardgames too. All in the blog boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

I may be late to the Heat party, but I’m glad I finally went for it and picked up this excellent racing #boardgame this week. Early impressions are very, very good! boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

Some recent dabbling in the world of promos and upgrades gets the #boardgames blog treatment. I didn’t think I’d be a fan. Turns out, I’m becoming one. boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

Michael Strogoff is a quirky #boardgame based on the Jules Verne novel of the same name. It was nice to get it out again - there’s nothing quite like it in my collection and it’s better than its sub 7 BGG rating gives it credit for. boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

I had a great time on Saturday playtesting a #boardgame in Midlam Miniatures. It’s a great store in the north east of England and well worth a visit. Here’s a bit about them, their games and how I got on 😊 boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

#Ethnos 2nd Edition has proved a big hit at my school #boardgames club. Here’s why and why I find myself looking forward to it each week. It wouldn’t be my blog without at least a little solo gaming… #GlassGarden from @buttonshy.bsky.social got a further play too! boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

The forthcoming Adventure Chest for Lost Ruins of Arnak #boardgame got me thinking about my feelings towards expansions in this hobby of ours and the perennial question of if they are actually worth me purchasing. boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

My reviews of @scottalmes.bsky.social’s Tiny Epic Cthulhu and its expansion, Cult of Chaos are now live on Zatu. You can find these and my reviews of other #boardgames here. www.board-game.co.uk/author/graha...

I’ve been a bit under the weather this week. Fortunately, #verdant #boardgame had me covered by providing just the right level of thoughtful experience to take my mind off things, without adding to the headache. boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

Skulls of Sedlec #boardgame has been great fun so far. Especially as I finally managed to achieve a rank in the well-implemented solo mode. boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

It’s review time today and the #boardgame under the spotlight is The March of Progress. A clever little micro-wargame from 2020 and one I think is way better than its BGG rating gives it credit for! boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

@buttonshy.bsky.social delivery days are enough to brighten even the dreariest of Mondays. A couple of cracking #boardgames were awaiting my return from work yesterday. boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

More #Finspan thoughts and why it is becoming one of my favourite #boardgames to play solo. @anarchytabletop.bsky.social et al have done a wonderful job and it continues to impress. boardgamegeek.com/blog/12040/b...

#Finspan #boardgame solo on level 4 difficulty has got my number currently. 3 defeats in a row today. 116-118, 109-130 and 112-124. Still, it remains fantastic, addictive fun and I’m enjoying the challenge posed by it 😊
