French New-Wave v dystopian sci-fi = more 60s Mod than the Small Faces. Fahrenheit 451 and Alphaville

1977-April 1978 Scottish Punk Gigs - Fan Recollections I'm looking for fan recollections of punk gigs for my new book on Scottish punk please. If you saw any of the below bands I'd love to hear a few words from you please about the gig and I'll include it. Thanks

Screening date of 3rd March on BBC4 confirmed for Pauline Boty documentary! . The first screening on TV of BOTY: I am the Sixties, the new documentary film from Mono Media Films and Channel X, has been confirmed as taking place at 10:00pm on BBC4 on Monday 3rd March, then available on iPlayer.

While a speeded up Hawkwind sounds like The Damned, if you loop the intro to Anarchy in the UK it weirdly sounds like Hawkwind or Pink Fairies (minus early electronics). Instead of the Sham Pistols I'd rather have heard the HawkPistols

When you play 1975 Hawkwind at 2x speed you get what sounds like 1976 Damned.

Tonight's movie is Pierrot le Fou.

@grantmcphee.bsky.social looks back on last summer’s launch of Postcards from Scotland, where Scottish indie icons celebrated the vibrant legacy (1983–1995) and bright future of Scotland’s independent music scene. #PostcardsFromScotland #StoriesFromTheStage

I've been listening to the new album by Sunstack Jones, Luminous Hands and it's a thing of sunkissed beauty. Do yourself a favour on a cold February afternoon and pick up a copy to warm your heart.

Everybody knows that the greatest bands never released a record....Here then are 12 of the greatest Scottish punk bands to never release a record, 12 punk pioneers....

There's at least 6 photos of me in this location over the years but these two are over 21 years apart and the first with this little one.

Finally caved in and got the Beatles US box. Very well done. Would be nice if they did the rest. I've got the CD box and this is a vast improvement on it. Good stuff, Beatles. Amazing what they can still ring out of gullible people like me.

I think everyone should buy this. It is VERY good.

Tonight's double bill: Two lesser regarded greats from two highly regarded greats but greats still.

Last night's movie was Quatermass and the Pit. A lot had changed over the decade since Dracula. It lacks the dynamism and gore of Bava and what was beginning in US it's solidly made, if a little stiff but full of hints that would go on to influence Folk-Horror, Hauntology and more esoteric horror...

1.“ Why do old movies looks so much better than modern ones? Everything now looks too dark and mushy” is a question that's banded around. The half formed response is usually 'digital camera sensors' but that's really only a small part of the answer. Here are the real reasons...

I watched Lifeforce for the first time in 35 years. I'd forgotten how utterly bizarre and odd it is.: Chris Jagger as a space vampire, a soul collecting spaceship, a wandering naked woman, random zombies and an embarrassed looking Patrick Stewart. Messy, random and expensive but hugely enjoyable
