Game idea: Mass Effect, but if you take the paragon path it leads to horrible tragedies. Nonetheless everyone ends up thinking you're a great guy who did his best. Meanwhile if you take the renegade path the outcomes are all objectively better but everyone ends up thinking you're an asshole.
