Imagine where we would be in the world today if Roosevelt had treated Churchill in December 1941 like Trump treated Zelenskyy during his visit today. I shudder at the thought.

He got 43% of the vote. Voter turnout rate was just 45%. Voter apathy is a real issue, and until it's addressed there won't be meaningful change.

Unfortunately the next episode will be delayed, most likely until next week. I recently took up a new teaching job and haven't had much time for the podcast. The script is nearly complete, so there has been progress. We'll see how much I can accomplish this weekend.

One of those rare moments when the names just align. These are not new sentences either.

Meanwhile, a CBC Radio program is hosting a "cross border conversation" regarding Trump's threats. It's appalling how ill prepared mainstream media is to challenge authoritarianism. Their job is to hold those in power accountable not ask "why isn't someone else doing something?"

New! Episode 87: The Battle of Cambrai I've been a little stuffed up this week. Apologies if this sounds rougher than usual. thegreatwarpodcast.podbean.com/e/87-the-bat...

Poilievre is not a smart man. It would be more accurate to say Americans fought alongside Canadians in WW1/2 since the US joined late in both.

My favourite part from Trudeau's speech was when he said it was our patriotic duty to watch all four seasons of "Shoresy" instead of the Super Bowl. Atta boy, JT!

The new episode will be posted tomorrow! Just one more day of editing and it will be good to go.

CBC must do a better job with these headlines. Enough with the passive voice nonsense. Everyone saw it. It doesn't "appear" to be anything but a Nazi salute.

Please enjoy this photo of a fabulous dog.

I support the CBC and the work they do, but these headlines are some namby-pampy nonsense.

Ironically, PP lacks both "individual character" and "humanity". I don't judge him for being a career politician, but I do judge him for being an absolute trash compactor of a human being.

Starting 2025 on the right foot!

New! Episode 86: 'Tuesday Flanders'. Happy New Years everyone! See you all in 2025! thegreatwarpodcast.podbean.com/e/86-tuesday...

Steve speaks the truth. AI written work is all frill and no substance. I've seen several student essays use the phrase: "This short story transcends its status as a mere work of fiction". Like WTF does that even?

It is refreshing to read so much push back against the use of AI in classrooms. Ursula le Guin's essay "The Operating Instructions" offers a good counterbalance to all the pro-AI drivel. thedewdrop.org/2019/09/27/u...

Kevin O'Leary is a walking toe nail fungus. Also, his wife killed two people in a boating accident a few years back.

my #1 duty to students is to teach them how to think. AI makes this job harder not easier. A closely related duty I owe is to not let students become accomplices in their own future irrelevance just because it’s easier short term to cheat thinking w AI

Couldn't agree more. My school's admin are trying to get staff & students to use AI. They fail to understand that "saving time" or "making it easier" is not the point. I'd rather read poorly written but honest work than some AI polished turd.

New! Episode 85: Catastrophe at Caporetto thegreatwarpodcast.podbean.com/e/85-catastr...

The script for episode 85 is complete, but I'm going to take a few days to refine and edit. It should be posted by Friday.
