Cernunnos is the Celtic horned god, called the great peacemaker and master of the wild places. This figure is largely mysterious, and we only know his name from a single source, a stone pillar in Paris, yet he has captured the modern imagination of Celtophiles. #FolkyFriday

Happy #FolkloreThursday! 🌳 Blackthorn was once referred to as a witch's tree. Anyone seen using a walking stick made from blackthorn was considered a witch! A staff made from blackthorn was thought to ward off evil spirits. 👻 (c) Megan Gimber

90% of our woodland is a wilderness of brambles. Why? dormice, wood mice, foxes, badger, crows, bank vole, woodpigeons, flycatchers, nuthatches, finches, starlings, thrushes, blackcaps, waxwings, pheasants, nightingales, robins, wrens, blackbirds, warblers, finches…

Expectations are fragile. The harder you hold them, the more likely they are to shatter

Welcome to all our new followers😊. We create and care for woodland, and we love to talk about trees. Well, we talk TO the trees as well😉

I have a bonkers dream to create a table in the woods crafted from a single monumental storm-felled oak tree. An enchanted space for food and fellowship under the trees. I'm so grateful to all who've helped. It feels like a miracle. (Photo: Claire-Shauna Saunders) www.theguardian.com/environment/...
