Here comes the arrests of journalists now.

They’re arresting judges - that seems like a good sign….

BRB, setting up a dirty line.

Also, everything in here is a lie

If the administration says they can deport and imprison people unilaterally as the executive branch, they are tautologically admitting they are putting people in jail and throwing away the key with no due process. Why is further discussion needed to understand what this is?

Rogan has been full of shit and playing to the lowest common denominator all along. This is him trying to walk back his culpability for the admin’s very predictable progression toward fascism. But we do need to let some people backpedal if we hope to slow this tidal wave. (Ideally some Senators too)

Of all the disciplines I have enjoyed being a self-certified expert in on social media (epidemiology, missile ballistics, crowd estimation, Gen AI, bond yield curves, and so much more), I think I enjoy being a Constitutional Law expert the most. 📜🇺🇸🧑‍⚖️⚖️

getting MS-95 tattooed on my knuckles so people know my favorite edition of Windows hopefully this never provides fuel for a dictator to make claims about my criminal history

@chrislhayes.bsky.social: Sen. Chris Van Hollen pulled off "the single most successful act of resistance we've seen from any major leader in the Trump term."

The only appropriate response to this is impeachment and removal from office. Every moment the political press spends spinning out theories about 2026 and immigration polling is a minute they are not spending asking Republicans in Congress about their plans to enforce the rule of law

We shouldn't human traffic guilty people to foreign death camps, either, actually.

Blaming your lawyers for something you do as the principal is the lowest form of abdication of responsibility.

I honestly can’t stop thinking about this RFK speech. A lot of the outrage around it is focused on pointing out that it’s not true. But so fucking what if it was? Do people whose bodies don’t work not deserve to exist in society? If all these things were true for a person are they less worthy?

Chuck Schumer and the Democratic leadership in the Senate need to be focusing on trying to get Murkoski and a few others to caucus with the Dems.

3 things autistic kids will actually never do: 1. Pick up a roadkill bear from the side of the road and put it in their van to eat 2. Realize they could get in trouble for eating the bear 3. Leave it in Central Park to frame a cyclist for its murder

Just a reminder that CA Senators Adam Schiff and Alex Padilla both voted to confirm Marco Rubio. No matter how much you think they are on team Good Guys, nothing can be taken for granted, and there is more work to do. Make those calls.

Oh. "This is about whether we have functional constitutional government in this country. If the IRS can go after you because of what you think or what you believe or what you do, we'd no longer live in a free country.“

Sen Van Hollen met with El Salvador's Vice President Félix Ulloa, who told him that the reason they are holding Kilmar Abrego Garcia at CECOT is because the Trump admin is paying them to do so. They also provided no evidence that Abrego Garcia is part of MS-13 or committed any crimes.

They should just rename Bluesky to WTF.app at this point

The student paper at the college at which I teach reports a "tsunami of takedown requests" from international students terrified of being targeted for innocuous, legitimate op-eds & opinions.. Many ask in person--leave no trace in writing. Reminds me of my father's account of studying in the USSR.

“A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.” From the U.S. Declaration of Independence, which is quite worth a reread if you haven’t in a while. www.archives.gov/founding-doc...

“The question of who has rights — and of whose rights are to be respected — is inseparable from our treatment of those on the margins of political life.” An important post by @jamellebouie.net www.nytimes.com/2025/04/16/o...
