Governments love limiting strikes because strikes challenge employer and government power. It is tiring, but a truism that continues through the ages. ccla.org/fundamental-...

If road deaths were a virus, we’d call it a pandemic. Safer transport helps us all – and we need it urgently. Deaths on the road costs countries up to 5% of GDP. Centring transport around people, not cars, can propel development. www.theguardian.com/global-devel... via @theguardian.com @who.int

Elon Musk is a bandit. And Doug Ford just signed $100 million deal with him. Meanwhile he and Trump are trying to crush the people of Ukraine. Doug Ford says it's the "best bang for the buck." No Doug, this is what vichy collaborators do. Slava Ukraini

Doug Ford will do anything to avoid talking to Ontario voters and media, even if it means doing fake negotiations with a junior file clerk and the White House parking attendant. You called this unnecessary election, Doug. Get back here and defend your record. #OnPoli www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Imagine watching billionaires take over and thinking capitalism is still good. 🤦‍♀️

Can someone explain to Doug Ford that Elon Musk controls the functioning of Starlink and Musk can deactivate it any time he wants? You know, like, say, as part of an economic bullying strategy?

Pleading with people to understand exactly this:

“If you had to guess the leading cause of death for children and young people around the world, what would you say? Malaria perhaps? Pneumonia? Suicide? They’re all high up there, but no, it’s road accidents.”

A Tesla story in two parts: 1) Tesla recalls 375k cars after probe by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration apnews.com/article/tesl... 2) DOGE employee cuts fall heavily on agency that regulates Musk’s Tesla (NHTSA) www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

So the President not only fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. He also fired the top JAGs at the Army, Navy and Air Force. Those are the lead people who determine what is a legal order and what is not. So if you're planning to do things that are illegal they're the most obvious obstacle.

Danielle Smith went to the Vancouver game with tickets gifted to her by an Invest Alberta board member. Somehow, Sam Mraiche and another executive from MHCare ended up there, too. Not in the photo: AHS executives. #ableg #abpoli

I've often insisted that we need to keep our eyes on Trump's actions more than his words (because so many of the words are bluster & lies). Now we have a genuinely dangerous action: a purge at the Pentagon, notably a purge of the top figures who can decide if Trump's commands are unconstitutional.

Civil-rights lawyer here. In my business, this is called prima facie evidence of invidious race & gender discrimination. And the other chiefs—all white men—are comparators. The evidence in support of the discrimination claim includes Trump‘s own “DEI” statements admitting to discriminatory motive.

Canada needs to ban Starlink NOW. I've been pushing this for so damn long, and people are finally waking up to the terrifying idea that Elon Musk having full control of your ACCESS TO INFORMATION is actually dangerous as fuck. Everything Elon is involved with needs to be banned in Canada.

Of the Chiefs of Staff, vice chiefs of staff, and judge advocates general of the three branches, Trump fired all the women and Black people.

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

Hello We can get off this ghastly hamster wheel to dystopia. What are the options? Check it out tomorrow

Every single Ontarian needs to demand an answer to this question: which candidate for Premier in the upcoming election will rip up the Starlink contract with Musk? It’s a risk Ontario should not take. #onpoli

This alone should be grounds for terminating Ontario’s contract with Starlink immediately.

yeah let's put starlink into our community instead of building locally controlled infrastructure what could possibly go wrong

This idea alone should have every Ontario voter running away from voting conservative. This absurd hare-brained fever dream is so ridiculous they can't even come up with shitty CGI for it like every other grifter. Visionaries my ass. #cdnpoli www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

This is climate arson, yes, but also the entire value proposition of Tesla, the reason for its insane stock price, is that it would end up the Amazon of electric cars: the only real game in town. Killing off non-Tesla electric car infrastructure is a gift to Musk.

A year ago this month, Trump said he would encourage Russia to attack NATO allies and "do whatever the hell they want" unless allies paid up. We thought it was so important, we ran it on the front page of the @mississippifreepress.org at a time when the New York Times and others didn't.

This is what I keep saying. This is why we can’t have nice things. The biggest obstacle between us creating something akin to utopia is a bunch of billionaires and their stupid ego ideas and companies, their wealth didn’t come from nowhere it came from us we deserve real returns

I've spent a lot of time rambling around Oregon's second district, which takes up two thirds of our state and is as rural and Republican as it gets... if they're shouting "tax the rich" and "tax Elon" in LaGrande, something is definitely happening here.

Shutting down already-installed infrastructure in the name of government "efficiency" while also harming business competitors of a government official who just happens to have his own network of EV chargers.

NEW: A couple days ago, Breakdown host Nate Pike announced that he was being court ordered to wipe the Alberta politics show from the web as part of a libel lawsuit from a well-connected Alberta businessman. This development should concern all journalists. open.substack.com/pub/theorcha...

Moe's government can't staff the hospitals we already have. The extra building will get his cronies paid and, I highly suspect, these largely unused spaces will also come pretty cheap to the privatized healthcare he wants to usher in. I think it's a setup. #Sask #SkPoli

2 fucking headlines right next to each other

Things hurting the US economy: -mass layoffs of federal workers -funding cuts to every federal dept -corporate layoffs -measles and tuberculosis outbreaks -high flu rates -$8/dozen eggs -new tariffs raising the cost of everything -Canada boycotts US travel and goods -concerns about airplane safety

The USA isn't just on a path towards being universally hated around the world, it's also fast becoming irrelevant. I fear it will destroy a lot as it goes down but I also expect that w/in my lifetime it'll become dried out & forgettable like post-imperial Britain.

This is astounding. It shows Albertans paid double - sometimes triple! - for surgeries at private surgical facilities connected to friends of the UCP than through AHS. And the Premier’s staff & Health Minister allegedly pressured & then fired the CEO of AHS when she asked questions about them.

Beware the fat cat Conservative mob boss Doug Ford. Vote Liberal or NDP to defeat Cons across the Province.

Remember when John Roberts gutted the Medicaid expansion because he said the *offer* of medicaid money was too coercive to the states bsky.app/profile/atru...

Should I spoil the ending? It's a manpower issue? Having hope that a building will solve a manpower issue isn't the inspiring position he hopes it is. Check out how the UCC in #yqr predictably cut back hours right after the election.

Do you worry about how Ontario will fare economically in the coming months? Do you wonder how different governments would avert economic decline/who you should vote for? Then go to the library/buy the Toronto Star tomorrow. I asked for interviews and read all the platforms so you wouldn't have to.

BRAVO to Maine Governor Janet Mills for slapping petty tyrant trump in the face with her calmly defiant "see you in court." THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE. 🔥🔥🔥

it’s so funny to be like “we don’t need diverse spies”

There's one day of early voting left, nobody has their voter cards, we're buried under more snow than we've had in years, Doug Ford is in Washington hobnobbing with the GOP, and nobody is pissed off about any of this. This is pathetic. Ontario is pathetic. #onpoli

ny times, the most well financed, praised news source on the planet, able to influence govts, institutions, etc: "here's some lie, dont fact check it, just trust us" me, who failed high school geometry, googling while waiting for a burger: "yeah, that's not true." www.dailykos.com/stories/2025...

A new @carrietait.bsky.social & @alannasmith.bsky.social story reveals that Alberta's Turkish meds importer had stakes in proposed private surgery co's tied up in AHS ex-CEO's allegations. So much in here: www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/alber...
