Look, kids today are reviving all kinds of ancient gestures. In addition to the Roman salute, my teens are doing the mutual forearm grasp greeting, Aztec ground kissing, thumbs up to indicate the gladiator shall be slain, exhaling through pursed lips to ward off evil eye, etc.

The soulful, funky Lou Donaldson passed away at the age of 98. I had the pleasure of seeing him play a few times and he was always a joy. RIP, LD
