Of all bacteria, Mycobacterium tuberculosis has probably been the biggest killer. The evidence is that it existed in early hominids, so the answer might be us, or at least, Homo Australopithecus.

Similarly, four or five GOP congresspersons do the same in the House, and then we have actual counterbalance to Trump's fascism. But this would require eight or nine GOP politicians with courage who are ready to put country first. And such people appear not to exist.

There's one immediate way to blunt the Trumpist assault on the Republic. If 'moderates' Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and Thom Tillis sat as independents caucusing 'for the defense of democracy' with the Democrats, the Senate would be 50:50. One more (McConnell? Paul?) & the Senate majority shifts.
