sorry i don’t think Zohran’s win indicates how state or national races will go. Zohran campaigned against unaffordable basic needs and an old pervert. problems that are unique to new york city and no where else in the country

to make a finer point: if the issue of nationwide injunctions reached the Court maybe half a dozen times in a few years, and they let them stand every time but one, is the rule *really* that nationwide injunctions are disfavored?

@chrisguymariano.bsky.social

Zohran Mamdani is saying things like “poverty is a policy choice and politicians have a duty to their constituents to make their lives affordable” and it is making a lot of politicians very very scared that they may actually have to start doing some actual service in their public service jobs.

We need to treat the tech billionaire class less like philosopher kings and more like lottery winners. Would you let someone who happened to hit the Mega Millions jackpot, and accomplished strictly nothing else, reengineer your society?

lol

Seattle Center has no transportation management plan to speak of and if you take transit to a big event there you'll probably sit behind other drivers illegally using the bus lane, but at least the campus will start recycling cutlery.

Somehow it's considered antisemitic to protest this in America or suggest it should be resisted. In fact, it's antisemitic to think that this has anything to do with judaism rather than a murderous regime's campaign of conquest. www.haaretz.com/israel-news/...

bad move. Adams and Cuomo are going to split the crucial "criminal vote" now that there's a sex criminal and a financial criminal in the running

Trying to imagine Debra Messing conjuring up a 9 or 10 year old Zohran Mamdani watching Hey Arnold! or Ahhhh! Real Monsters before going outside to celebrate 9/11.

If you are not alarmed at the type of thing these people now feel 100% comfortable saying out loud that they would have been scared to type into a group chat 10 years ago for fear that anyone might ever see it, I don't know what to tell you.

Marxism is always silly until they just go on and tell us that it is horribly accurate.

the best part of this is that Ackman said he woke up depressed but then came up with this great idea, and the great idea is just to fund one of the other guys in the race

The takeaway is not that electoral politics will fix everything. We know it won’t. Obviously. The takeaway is that people will show up if you give them hope & a way forward. And that, my friends, can & must look like a lot of things right now.

Andrew Cuomo was the US Secretary of Housing and is now running for mayor, where one of the largest agencies they manage is NYC's Housing Authority. And yet Cuomo literally had ChatGPT write his campaign housing policy. This is who the media and establishment want you to think is "serious"

Feeling political hope for the first time in 5 years is wild

i think cuomo did well considering he couldn’t campaign while the sun was up

Always obsessed with how the family living in the Commandant's House in the Navy Yard can turn their whole district one color, this time just one of them voted for Brad Lander in the primary

My latest for the New York Times:

NYC- You are so lucky you get to vote for Zohran. Vote for someone who loves the City and wants it to be a place for everyone. DON'T Rank the sex pest who treats the City with disdain.

his policies arent even especially radica! bill deblasio ran on half of them, and i don't recall everybody joining forces to try to beat him. they really just hate young people and brown people from the left of the party

9 years ago the NBA pulled the All-Star Game out of North Carolina because of their anti-trans Bathroom Law. The choice had massive public support and was applauded Less than a decade later and half the country has those laws, including Congress itself, and barely anyone blinks LESS THAN A DECADE

These people gotta be tried in the Hague

ICE agents in tactical gear chase down and tackle a U.S. citizen in L.A. After realizing he’s American, they just slink away. Their only explanation: “Why were you running?” Probably because two masked men with guns were trying to snatch him.

Your kids are stuck inside all day because Stephen Miller.

Jesus Christ, Bill de Blasio is cooking here. nymag.com/intelligence...

I don’t see this mentioned at all about Andrew Cuomo. He’s on Netanyahu’s legal defence team for his ICC claims. nypost.com/2024/11/25/u...

the future of the democratic party is this old guy who sucks

what are you supposed to do when the "good" political party doesn't treat a dozen credible sexual harassment claims as disqualifying for a political candidate. how are you supposed to ignore that

what stage of empire is armed standoffs between law enforcement agencies outside sporting events

I asked ICE where the “413% increase in assaults” justification for its officers using masks came from. They didn’t answer. So I dug into it, and what I found … did not boost their argument. Gift link: wapo.st/4l7a1ch

These people aren’t afraid Mamdani would be a bad mayor. We have a ridiculous, corrupt, incompetent mayor right now and the city is hanging in OK. They’re declaring all-out war because they’re afraid Mamdani (or Lander) might be a good mayor.

All billionaires have too much money and too many heads, and we’d all collectively be better off fixing that.

if Zohran wins, all the billionaires are going to leave nyc, and they're going to start a new town in the middle of the desert called Moneyville, where only billionaires are allowed to live, and they're going to film it as a reality tv show

Musk succeeded in destroying an entire sector of the American economy (international humanitarian assistance), and is trying to do the same to another (public lands management).

FWIW this is why I have such mixed feelings about the “homegrown national park” idea. Individual, yard-by-yard action is useful when it acts as a gateway to collective action, but damaging when it’s positioned as an alternative. As it stands currently, I see it cut both ways.

"defund the police" was so obviously correct. I really don't care if it doesn't poll well. it's like telling me that I should stop saying I like vaccines if they stopped polling well.

I believe unions are our only hope in the collective struggle against fascism and capitalism. Get yourself representatives, not leaders. People like you who don't shy from the protests front line. Not dummies in suits who talk on TV and won't take risks.

"In the early 1960s, communities in the Indo-Pacific began to share methods for capturing and shipping coral into captivity in aquariums throughout the world. This article traces both the transfer of knowledge and the movement of corals from the 1960s to the present ..."

Padilla: If this is how DHS responds to a senator with a question you can only imagine what they're doing to farm workers, to cooks, to day laborers out in the Los Angeles community and throughout California.
