I was just cc-ed on an email where a Nobel prize winner and green card holder who's spent a lot of time in the US says he cannot risk coming back at this point for a visit. And I cannot blame him for this decision. We are witnessing absolute mad king behavior.

Trump essentially told the Supreme Court to kiss off today. This is, by definition, an autocracy, explicitly illegal. Stand up now or it will be too late.

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

Anyway, the President would be immune, as John Sauer told SCOTUS (or was it the DC Circuit).

This is literally a demand for DEI hiring and admissions…for MAGA

On this day, April 14, 2025, the President of the United States openly defied the Supreme Court’s unanimous opinion of April 10, 2025, ordering him to “facilitate Abrego Garcia’s release from custody in El Salvador

Certainly worth repeating in the times we are in..

Subtweeting Columbia

Seems like a good day to remind everyone that Auschwitz — a complex of over 40 concentration and extermination camps — was not located in Nazi Germany either.

This, from the Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Let this be the start of a civil society cascade of just saying no to authoritarianism.

"Still, legal analysts have raised questions about the legality of sending US citizens to prisons abroad." what are we doing here. it is illegal. there is literally zero question that it is illegal. what is this 'raised questions' stuff.

Harvard University: “We have informed the [Trump Administration] through our legal counsel that we will not accept their proposed agreement. The University will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights.” 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 view.hu.harvard.edu?qs=351b45ebf...

One thing I wish people understood about authoritarianism is life often looks more or less the same. Troops aren’t marching down the street every day; people go to restaurants, have their office jobs. But everyone knows that stepping out of line, even slightly, can derail your life with no recourse

This is a great start

The president told a Central American dictator to build five more massive slave labor camps to hold US citizens.

China really upping their trolling game since the tariffs.

visiting the united states officially a security risk (ala china) for europeans

this is despicable.

Not Antisemitism (according to MAGA): - Firebombing a Jewish governor‘s house during Passover - Doing a Sieg Hitler salute - Eating dinner with neo-Nazis Antisemitism (according to MAGA): - Saying Israelis and Palestinians deserve rights and dignity - Using freedom of speech on campus

republicans are disappearing people under the guise of fighting antisemitism and can’t even pretend to give a fuck when a jewish governor’s house gets firebombed on passover

using data from an anonymous website that Stephen Miller is close to. that guy needs to end up in CECOT

This is a great idea and I hope it happens.

Something to keep in mind is that there is reporting that both Betar USA and board members of the nonprofit that operates Canary Mission in Israel both claim close relationships with Stephen Miller. www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

We're moving down the road to tyranny very quickly here

Nobody knows from one hour to the next what the policy of the US govt is that impacts trillions of dollars in global trade. There is no economic certainty for investors, corporations, or small businesses. Mad King Donald is determined to wreck this economy.

We just need to turn the negative productivity of scientists at NASA and IRS auditors that DOGE fired to gainfully making shoes in Nike factories reshored from Vietnam. This is the groundbreaking economic thinking of communist purges from Mao to Pol Pot with a sprinkle of American Exceptionalism.

awesome. those millions of jobs screwing little tiny screws into iPhones are coming!

Trump is using his second term to delegitimize the very concept of white-collar crime. www.axios.com/2025/04/13/t...
