This is going to sound crazy but I think "energy field" people who go based on vibes are on to something. I think they've created a sort of mathematical construct in their head + mistakenly imputing it onto reality, but modeling competence, positivity, or other attributes as or networks makes sense

File extensions are such a fundamentally weird idea. Whose idea was it to just shove the stub of something into the name in order for the user and OS to know the file type is? Space is so limited + then you have to have a whole bunch of custom headers and byte patterns for every bespoke file type.
