I hate days like this.

Those long hours spent behind the steering wheel of tractors and combines are conducive to deep thinking. I solved many of the world's problems that way. But then I get to the point rows and get so busy I forget what problems I just solved.

Argh. It sprinkled last night and then the wind blew. Hard. Every vehicle that was parked outside is covered with muddy spots that makes them look like they've been afflicted by some weird disease. The lone vehicle parked under cover is marked by a film of fine sand. Did I wake up in the Sahara?

Well. Two straight days of weather so cool it almost felt chilly. Add a stiff wind out of the northeast and an overcast sky and it no kidding was chilly. I'm not complaining, mind you. No, I'm stocking up on memories of chill before summer arrives, probably next week.

Oh come on. It's too early for the temperature to touch a hundred! Wait till July, please!

Whew. Such an excruciating conversation. As a lipreader, really dramatic cleavage can really test a man. Fortunately I met the challenge and managed to get the gist of the gab.

Phooey. The cats would rather attempt to snatch birds out of the sky than stalk that everbedurned rat trying to make a home in my truck. What are they teaching kittens in predator school anyway?

I am so done with blowing sand.

0.05"? That's it? That's the most rain since November, not even enough to tamp down the dust. Meanwhile, on the news, cars floating away, houses tumbling into raging waters, snow, ice, even fog.. none of that for me.

The swallows have arrived, and their swooping about has my cat entranced.

Characters I greatly miss: Fat Freddy's Cat. Fat Freddy, too. And of course, Franklin and Phineas. If they aged in comics like we do in real life, they'd be in their 80s.

Such wacky, dangerous times. Vital programs being cut right and left seemingly without reason. I saw the danger the orange turd represented months before he was first elected. I did my darnedest to warn friends and relatives. Oh, it's some kind of wall..

What they don't tell you about retirement: you're gonna spend up to half of your remaining life in waiting rooms while your body falls apart under you. The worst kind of betrayal. And here I am, stuck with all the aches and pains a life of physical labor gives you. Oh, you retired early? Lucky you

My, it's a nice day outside, weather wise. Alas, the forecast for the next 2 days is more wind. Would be nice if the winds were from a different direction and blew all that sand back where it came from.

Oh lordy. Super fine sand drifted up all over and an inch deep in the carport. And all that could have been avoided if the lummox across the road had followed proven practices. Grr.

Well, the wind has abated and the dust has begun to settle. There's a layer of sand an inch deep in the carport. The new guy to my west has a lot to learn about farming. Never, ever, I repeat, Never leave a field without cover. Not in west Texas you don't.

There's a time and a place for farming the old timey way, but west Texas ain't it. Once I figure out how to post a video, maybe yall can see for yourselves. It's blowing hard and the farmer west of me is losing his farm dirt at an alarming rate. It'll be on the east coast pretty soon.
