It has been my first real winter since 2011. I finally understand fictional characters who cannot shut up about sunshine and spring, because I cannot shut up about sunshine and spring.

Deadline July 1! Announcing the ninth annual Honey & Wax Book Collecting Prize, $1000 for an outstanding collection built by a woman, aged 30 or younger, anywhere in the United States. If your bookshop or library or book club could use some flyers, send us your address and we’ll set you up.

Trans women live out that there is no one way to be a woman. I've lived most of my life not doing feminity "right." I've cut my hair off and dressed masc. It has not shaken my gender identity.* I will always ride for women defining feminity for themselves. *would be fine if it did

‘If I die, I want a loud death’: Gaza photojournalist killed by Israeli airstrike

I am devastated to report we snooped on this house last night. They PAINTED IT WHITE inside (wood too) and ripped out the kitchen. I cant. We couldnt have put the 600k in they were asking last year (nor the 400k they sold it for) and reno it. But something so beautiful deserved better.

I feel about Ohio the way Philly feels about Gritty. The more strangers on the internet try to make me hate it, the more it becomes MY problematic gerrymandered creature that I refuse to give up bc it is beautiful.

In theory, single-blind review process where your know the reviewer is cool. In practice, my brain refuses to process comments because they came from THAT SCHOLAR who knows everything about this work and omg they read my work and saw things i said omg. Anyway, revisions are going great. And late.

Just a few shots from my last few months in the Cleve: - watching a film at Keybank Theatre for the Cleveland Film Festival - Visiting the Cleveland Museum of Art (free!) - picking up food in West Side Market - Attending a concert at Severance Hall

Nothing makes strangers more mad than a femme-presenting person on the internet liking something 🩷

The amount of people being weird to me about Ohio is... weird. Yall know Cleveland is rad and yall just jealous about our cost of living. The river hasn't been on fire in YEARS.

I have been getting a lot of email at my Cal Poly address, which is about to get deactivated. So, hi! I work at Case Western, and I'm a librarian now. I moved to Ohio. Quit tenure. It was a whole thing. That's where you can find me. 😊

Excited that my own essay on *Pamela* (1740) & queer time is now out in the world.

I love this (and agree). Let me extend it. I encourage humanities faculty to consider machine and deep learning in their research when they're at a factory moving boxes by hand and the goal is move all the boxes. Plus there are forklifts that aren't based on stolen parts and sold by jerks.

This is so real 😭 Yes, take a poetry class and make a rocket in my maker studio no matter where on this earth you were born. I will defend this with everything I have and tell you your rocket is cool bc it probably is, and yes your can major in chemistry that's great, oop well physics is great, too

Do we think the elite university president Signal chat is popping off today 👀

Quick appreciation post for Mildred Barnes Bliss 🩵 She was a member of the Hroswitha Club who lived through WWII and that's exactly what she is referring to with this quote.

Think I'll post this again (and again)... Katherine Johnson, whose precise calculations helped ensure the success of the Mercury and Apollo space missions, including the historic Apollo 11 moon landing. #BHC #BH365

If you want it to be summer badly enough, the temperature doesnt matter.

I wish we had more time to morn the collective loss of so much research instead of scrambling to understand the next catastrophic wave but here we are

A group of feminist lesbians staged a “Lavender Menace” protest at a women’s conference more than a half-century ago that forever changed the feminist movement.

Waiting for the day when I'll stop being painfully earnest on main. At least one more day 🥲

We already lost a generation of humanists to precarity and starving our disciplines of funding. I do NOT want to lose the work we did get. I do not want work on Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, women and gender minorities, and queer folx's work to disappear. I need this history. We all do.

Side note to my new followers: I'm not an archivist. I'm a career bibliographer who talked my way into a library job and has learned a lot from very smart archivists. Archivists are much more adept at advice on preservation than me. I just know what it's like to have terabytes of research data.
